clip ons and wire routing

how do i go about running the wires with my clip ons? would it be safe to just notch out the underside of the bars so the wires have enough room to come straight out of the switches?

You could notch out the bars, or another (more common) option is to notch out the casing on the switches/levers where they meet the bar.
