clip ons

thanx Hillsy. I'll look around for risers. I ve got superbike bars that would be fine if I can mount something in the holes to mount the bars in

risers ?

so how about this: found 6in.risers-1.1 in. dia. remove existing 7/8 bars which are held in a bracket by 4 allen screws each.slide risers in-put on a set of bars. I've got a set I took off my 750K-stock ones that were too low for me,should accomadate all cables nicely. the risers, being slightly larger dia. should afford the 4 screw clamp a good bite on the 5 inches available below the bars. should give me all kinds of room to play w/height for tank clearence & still keep it low.Yes ?

Hard to say without pics but as long as the risers are secure on the triple it should be OK.

The last thing you want to be doing is setting up a death-trap for a clueless newbie.

well it turns out the risers wont work out.the hole in the tree is 7/8 also.so it looks like clipons are the only option. :-\

don't be stupid, clipons would be stupid on that bike, clipons are stupid on the street most all of the time, clipons are even stupider on the street for a novice rider, clip ons are for racing or somebody with a lot of experience riding and a bike that has rearsets ....that bike is totally unsuited for a low narrow bar location even for even an experienced rider
with that bike ,a novice rider and clipons you are just setting the poor dumb bastard up to crash out.. :-\
try taking the advice from those that know

You know we were created to go out and make shit work... the risers I posted, any ProTaper set with rubber bushings WILL work, you just need to mod them with a washer on the bottom and maybe bigger rubber parts... if you had a rubber cylinder slightly longer that the depth of the hole bored to fit the bolt as you tighten it will swell inside and even be a vibration damper... no rocket in the science here man... think outside of the box... ProTaper has kits with nice fat bars and risers... get crackin man!

You Can Do It!

so Tune,I have found polyurethane tube 7/8 od x 3/8 id which I can cut to fit in the original bar clamp.I can bolt risers to it which is what I think you're saying.that means the risers will sit flush on top of the tree.most risers I've looked at take 1/2x13 bolts so I will hafta drill out the poly a bit, washers on the ends ,leave it a hair long so it'll compress. is this setup strong enuff as the bolts NOT the risers will be held in the stock clamp?
thanx Mike

Thats it in a nutshell, the bottom washer (nice thick chrome or SS) should be slightly over sized as to prevent pull through (safety first) you can buy longer bolts an gnd the hex to match the wonky head shape of the stock bolts the come with the risers best to use SS bolts ASE or Metric wont matter here Lock nut on the bottom a little drop of blue also.

The key with any of this modification stuff is to do it right, no 10mm bolts wit 12mm washers etc. if you buy nice fasteners you have no need to paint or worry if it looks good or not... think it through and it will be as nice as factory.

Hurco one of our fine friendly friends here at DTT has a set of risers and a nice set of SE bars with removable cross brace for a nice option, if the bars are thick wall it really is just a bar pad holder here: for sale risers are only $10... a little polish or sand and spray would work perfect for the app... http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=64328.0

thanx Tune.I never woulda thought in that direction.thanx for the encouragement.like your style.will post pics
