Clutch issue CB350 (not disengaging...)

GRHebard

Been Around the Block
so i rebuilt my engine recently, when i got it running, the clutch now doesnt want to disengage. to clarify, when i pull the clutch lever in and put it into 1st, it stalls.

i checked all the adjustments, and theyre ok.
i took the clutch apart, resurfaced it all, soaked it in oil over night, and reassembled. but it does the same thing. i left the clutch cover off to see whats going on... so when you pull in the clutch lever the front aluminum plate pushes outward, but all the discs on the inside dont come apart very much. its like its dragging. i tried revving while putting it in 1st and that seems to work a little better.

do i just need to let it break in?

thanks for the help

As a place to start troubleshooting, when the engine is off and you put it into first and the clutch lever is in, does the rear wheel rotate? Mine was pretty gluey initially but freed up after some breaking in.

Put it in gear, pull clutch and wheel bike backwards until it frees off.
If it doesn't get free, your adjustment is wrong.
Then, you do what all British bike owners did first thing in the morning, pull in clutch lever, kick it over 'til it free's, then start engine
What oil are you using? (10W/40?)
It may be causing plates to stick
