cm200t bobber

hey there,
egot some up dated pics. i have changed the bars from apes to the original bars from my cd175. looks like bratt bars, i think.
then i dropped the frt end down, about 1-2 inchs. the look is awesome and the bars are more comfertable. i really like this look
alittle better then the look before.
tell me what ya all think.
thanks.

Dude you change bars more than I change underwear, lol. Just kidding. To be honest I liked the apes best, then the drag bar, but that's just me. Comfort and cool are two words that don't go together when talking about a bobber, right? Again, kidding. But it has to be what makes you happy. You are the one that will be seen riding it, not me. So do what the hell you want. However, on the flip side, I totally understand when you ask for opinions. I do it all the time. Most guys on this board have good taste and it's cool to bounce ideas off everyone. Like I said, I do it all the time. But in the end you have to be the one happy with it ;D.
couple of Quick ?
What do you have in mind for exhaust?
and what kind of a cross brace did you run under the seat pan?

Hey Supercafe,

Bike's looking good. I'm starting to get into this bobber thing. I think we're becoming a Cafe/Bobber forum, which is OK by me.

What's the old car in the garage we keep getting glimpses of?

CC

I like this, makes me think when I can afford another POS a bobber would be cool. How is the foot peg to seat feel? Is it crammed up with the lowered stance? I bet a set of forward controls from a 250 rebel would swap with very little work. I believe the frames are very similar. But then the bobber might look to much like a cruiser. I personally don't like forward controls but I am tall and if I lowered a seat, I might need them to fit.

Cheers,

I think we've all been infected with the bobber movement due to Troy's re-build...

Supercafe, I like the new stance on your bobber. If it were me, I'd still go with the drag bars, but whatever you find comfortable and like matters.

thanks guys.

first, the car in the garage is a 1953 Allard race car kit. all fiber glass.
second, i agree i like the straight bars, but as of right now i don't want to pay the coin for cables. i will be later for sure.
third, i think a 250 rebel forward controls would be awesome, did'nt know they had them. thanks for the info..as for the seat to
peg, it fits ok. not to cramped up. i'm 6 foot and it rides nice. i bought the bike for 200$ and it ran good, i have n it now 250$
bought a batt. by the end with tires and tubes, about 400-500$. not bad for a nice little bike..
fourth, what sl350 are you talking about??????
fifth, not sure on the exhaust, what would you do??? i would like to have straights????what do you think, really not sure what to do. as for the cross brace under the seat pan, i have left the old brace there and welded the seat pan in place to help support.
i had to cut into the under brace to fit the firestones...

i really like to hear the opinions of the forum, like you said, there are so many good builders here and like to see what they think.
and i am still on the fence with the apes, or the mids. we will see what fits better, when the tires and paint are done.
thanks again,
later.

whats up,

up date on the build. i recently bought a sporty tank from a swap meet for 20$.
really good find, i think. just has a dent in it.
so i fitted the tank to see what it would look like, and i think it looks great. its alittle larger
than the stock one.
after that i installed my rear signals, and finished the welding up.
so with that i also removed the rear wheel and cleaned it up and masked the motor.
painted up the rear with frat black.
the plane is to powder coat the rims red and paint every thing else flat black, keeping the
upper forks polished and lowwer black. will problebly paint the spokes black aswell.
any way, i'll keep an up date as i go.
here's some pics, let me know..
later.

You mentioned that you had a new tank, but somehow I hadn't seen it yet. That Sportster tank is completely sweet and the frame is starting to look really clean.

Hi lovin the build, just a couple of comments tell me to pull my head in if you wish. I think the sportster tank is too high or not forward enough making the bike look small and cramped (going off the photos). If you still have your 175 pull the tank off that and give it a try, that could look sweet!!! especially if you get some chrome side covers. I think the mid bars look a bit normal or standard where as the apes are groovy and the headlight needs to come down a bit as well.
I'm lovin the bobber look might be time to find a new project ;D

thanks guys,

ya the new tank is the sporty tank. and i would have used the sloper tank but i want to sell it.
i have the old tank off the 175, and it does look awesome but it is small 6L-8L tank.
my thread on the bike, the earlier pics have it on with the straight bars.. the sporty is
sitting back a little, due to the bars hitting abit. it is'nt mounted yet, just kinda sitting there.
i dont like the original tank, to hart shaped for me. with the sporty on it, and with it sitting back
it may looked cramped but actually fits rather well, with the seat pads on you hug it nice. how ever i will take some pics with it closer, and see what you think. it may be to far back, and if it is i want to know.....
i agree with you the apes are the way to go, would like to get a set of real ones though. not to high but mid apes i think. also the light, i believe it should come down to, but is hard to do with
the way it is mounted to the bike. would like to put a bullet light on it..

recently, i got the rear end all painted up and cleaned up the chain etc. i went out on the old cafe
and came back yesterday, and found the 200 on its side. it had fallen off the stand, broke the
signal lense, and not to much else. i was lucky...

thanks guys for the info and input, let me know what you think about the tank situation, ill take some pics of the tank forward. i like to here what you guys on here think, as there are more
experienced builders. thanks again.
later.

hey man just wanted to thank you

this post has truly been an inspiration for a future project of my own

looking to turn a 1983 Honda cm200t into bobber style.

won't be in the near future but looking at all your pics and the state your bike was in when you started the project truly pushes me towards getting in my project in mind.

gracias!
