CM450 Carb Swap

I have a 1982 CM450e that I am tearing down and building back up.

From what I've read, the CM450 carbs are not the easiest/greatest for tuning, especially with pods(which are part of my rebuilding plan). Are there any suggestions on setting them up right while I have them on the bench before I put them back on the bike? Or are there other carbs out there that would fit this bike and be easier to tune, as this may just be the easiest option?

I know that there is a lot of trial and error with rejetting and getting it all working right for my individual motor, but any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You have the VB22 carbs which are 30mm venturi's. White/orange floats which are not adjustable. The largest venturi carbs are the VB21's at 32mm found on 1978/79 CB/CM 400's. They have a black float which is adjustable. The black float can be used on your carbs with the correct float needle. In most cases the only change needed to get the jetting right is the Primary Main jet. Up one size, ie: 70 to 72. Unless you're running pods in which case the pressure differential of the carb is changed and they don't want to work correctly
