C'mon Ladies Ton-up

I tried this.
Put my mother on my 125.

She said "I'm going to wreck it"

I said "no you're not you'll be fine"

...

She wrecked it.

I no longer give lessons 8)

My wife doesn't ride for the same reason....couldn't handle throttle being in the grip that also had brakes. Kept speeding up when she wanted to slow down. The fence stopped her though!!

zeke has experience going through fences and helicoptering off motorcycle...both times he was showing off for the ladies...I thought the ladies could multitask better than us? Mamma ton up! Lol

Teach her on a bike with a drum front and reverse the clutch/brake cables. Left brake, right clutch is easy, yet also doubles as a great joyride discouragement...

Disc brake bike? Take off the brake lever... low speed around the yard you only need the rear brake. Introduce the front brake once the confidence level rises.

I highly recommend the MSF course. No familial drama, no worries about dropping one of "your" bikes. And teachers with a LOT of experience. Kelly had a great time, and is pretty good.

It took me about 3 hours to have the wife riding like a... well... a newbie. But she has the basics down, and plenty enough for her to get her endorsement.
The bigger problem she has is, right after she learned how to ride the bike, I took it apart to customize it. That was about 2 years ago.
I guess one day I need to finish that project :p

I've been down that road. Be careful, you'll end up forking over the cash for a brand new one...which is one of the best decisions I ever made in a bike related purchase. Happy wife, happy life. Plus it keeps away any and all garage resentment.

Mine already had been through a lot of bikes when we met and she had a 750 Ninja as her street bike. No surprises that she has a wall full of trophies from her vintage race Honda CB160s and added a national Drag Race record this year on my RZ350. Just shy of the ton in a 1/4 mile so we need to get her a couple more ponies for next season.

Ladies can ride - they just do it differently. AHRMA has a few lady racers and some of the fastest drag racers are ladies.

i put my x on my58 triumph with opposite controls, worked well and gained good speed untill she had 2 stop, Luckily there where a garage standing there rescuing my beloved triumph from taking a swim!

Back in the Sixties there was ONE girl rider who frequented the local Bye-Pass on a wicked Rocket Gold Star. When she first turned up she was viewed as a bit of a novelty with "what's a bird doing on a Rocket Goldie - what a waste".

Well, turned out it was anything but a waste as she mixed it with the best of us on the weekly burn-ups.

Never quite took the "fastest" crown, but was always mighty close and at one stage was "number 3" for two weeks or so.

She dissappeared almost as soon as she arrived and nobody really knew her or what happened to her [ Lucy was her name ].

Some time later one of the lads found out she'd been wiped out by a drunk car driver [ heard that before ?? ] and although she survived the accident, she ended up in a wheelchair.

i know what you mean Teazer...When I met my sister for the first time I found out several things...one is she knows the top speed of her Triumph super 3 is in excess of the posted top speed of 158...I think she was wearing pumps :) oh and I love that road racing picture of your wife you posted in another string...

Guess I don't have to post that my wife now rides. She saw the other guys wife's riding and came home and said build me a bike. Gave her the MSF course for her birthday, mainly because I knew that for the sake of our marriage someone else should teach her to ride.
