That part looks really well designed. Unfortunately it's not too well engineered.

A trapezoid is not a very effective shape at distributing forces in a safe manner. This would be a really good part for a monoshock conversion though.

Pics of this versus the original shown.

It can be welded in the oem position if the person buying it is really that worried about the weight distribution. Or welded however the buyer wants. I just have no use for the materials anymore.

Plus, guys do stuff like this here left and right lol.

It can't be welded on in the OEM position, and just because someone else has done it... Doesn't mean it's right or safe.

The way you have presented your product implies that it is safe and can be used without issue. There's the problem. As Sonreir mentioned, it would be a nice subframe for a mono shock conversion, but as is it will certainly fail using the stock suspension set up. Not only will the forces from the rear suspension be much greater than that assembly can handle, it's mounted by clevises at the bottom which are NOT intended for such a use.

Not trying to be a dick but you can't just throw something together without doing the research and than sell it to some ramdom person online. No matter how nice the fab work may be. Someone could be seriously injured using this design. Can you sleep at night knowing it's on some unsuspecting persons bike?

Out of curiosity, would this be an engineerically sound design with the eyelets over the swingarm shaft instead of mounted to tabs halfway the tube?

You guys are looking way to far into this. If someone is buying the materials its up to them to determine if it's safe to use on their bike, not my decision. I bought this setup off a friend of mine who had intended to use it on his cb550 with a monoshock. I mocked it up onto my frame (cb360), and its not going to work the way I had wanted it too.

If you dont like the design (which can easily be manipulated by cutting sections to various lengths) that's fine, but no one has the right to come in and say what I am selling is unsafe. Can it be done safely, you bet, I never said this setup was intended for a dual shock setup? I never said what it was intended for or what it was to be used on.

All the pictures posted above were purely to show concept and materials included.

I would have to say that even then the answer would be no. I highly doubt those heim joints would withstand that kind of force.

Ah, the old CYA disclaimer!

We build custom bikes, I would have thought it would have been a given.

Its not like I came in here selling a completely welded up subframe claiming, Hey, just bolt it on and go.

I have electrical tape holding it together for Christs sake.

1st of all this will work and not fail if welded properly. These are street bikes and vintage ones at that. If you're racing your bike you're not using this. I have seen more messed up suspensions in my time than this and they've held together. Yes, geometrically it can be better and yes a mono shock would be better. I've just seen worse and even done worse in my beginnings.

That would work fine in a monoshock situation and is completely unsuited to a twin shock set up. Who out there is changing a bike to single shock?
