do i need a special 12 mm socket? my sockets deep and shallow six pointers wont seat .the nuts are to close to the center of the bearing caps. dam hondas.

Not sure how you expect to get help with your honda from guys who know Hondas by ending your post with "dam Hondas" but here it goes.

1. It's damn, not dam.

2. Use a 1/4 drive socket. The walls of the 1/4 drive sockets are thinner and should be able to get in between the end cap and the side of the nut.

3. It's "too close" not "to close".

As long as your 1/4" torque wrench goes up to the needed specs, otherwise use a 3/8". You should be able to find a deep, thin wall 3/8 socket if needed, whichever way, single hex is best.
If you can't find a socket to fit, you can chamfer the end of a spare socket to make it work, that's what I've done.
