Ok so I'm putting clip ons on my CL350 and was planning on using the original left and right switch housings. The wires for the headlights, shut off, blinkers, etc. originally ran inside the handlebars from inside the switch housing. I can't do this on the new bars and was hoping to keep the old housings.
I was thinking I could drill a hole through the bottom of the housing to run the wires through. About where the little hole is in the middle of the second pic is where I was planning. It should have room because I'm eliminating the starter and its wire that would be in that area.
I'm sure other people have ran into this. What did you guys do? Thanks for the help.
I could...but I would just have to drill another hole for the wires to come back out through a few inches away from the first. They are Tarozzi bars and dont have an opening on the inner end of the bar.
On the switches that don't have levers attached it's quite simple to cut a slot in the bottom half where it clamps to the bars, but seeing as you may need the strength there for the lever perch, I would drill a hole through the bottom switch case before the clamp area (like you have suggested).
When I ran my stock controls I just took a file and filed a grove into the bottom housing so the wires came out right next to the bars. I'll check and see if I can dig up some pics of the controls.
