Copper plating stainless steel, possible?

Hi all.

Having trouble finding a copper item i need for a project but can find plenty of stainless items around.

If i lived in the northern hemisphere i'd have no problem at all getting what i want.

Question is, would copper plating adhere to stainless steel?
I've read quite a bit on how to copper plate things yourself but i can't be bothered, i'd rather pay to get the required result.

On a somewhat related note, @VonYinzer: Would you say, on average, it's cheaper to copper-plate stainless steel or buy copper parts?
