Couldn't Pass up this XJ650

well then what will happen to the GWAR tank? cuz i would take it and bury it in my yard with the other stuff i have buried there

Looking for the Maxim 750, like the slightly larger tank a bit better, from what i hear it's a direct swap.

As far as the bones tank, i think i may have to keep it forever mounted on my garage wall. It's just such an awesome conversation piece.

Also, i decided to get a decent seat instead of a metal pan and cover it myself, going to wait for it to arrive before ordering springs, don't know if i want 2 or 3" barrel's... comes with scissors so i can at least mount and ride.

Got this off le bhey from the panhandlechoppers account, it was 40$ cheaper there... nothing mentions it's a 2nd or flawed piece... hoping it looks ok.:

Welp, got the seat, and as i figured shortly after drunkingly hitting the "Buy it Now" button, I'll probably be ordering another (cheeper) seat.

This thing is niiiice, leather feels good, billet is good, shiny shiny shiny, but i just don't think it belongs on this monstrosity quite yet.

Going to order the "jesse james" seat pan that arcspeedworks link'd too, will def have a better flow until (if) i change out the tank and remove the studs.
in the meantime, the above La Rosa seat will be F/s to a good offer.

On a side note, has anyone ever bought those 11" Biker's Choice shocks? Looks like they're all the same on ebay/websites, and they're under 100$ sooo... think i might try 'em cuz Betty rides too high right now. Need to get my ass closer to the pavement.

what 'r you offering ;D

not looking to take much of a loss as it's totally new, sitting in the box it came in, and i *sorta* want to use it in the future... but might not...

I'm open to offers.

Also, open to trades, really looking for a set of "universal" rear sets for my 360 build... like

I have no idea what I'd offer...I'm bad at this. I generally either offer too much or not near enough....

haha, exactly why i want you to go first 8)

Do some googling on the seat, and come back with a number (or some rearsets)

Soooo, bought a set of "Harley Big Twin Lowering Shocks 11 inch" off fleabay.

Went to swap 'em out. Damn things have a 1" mounting eye (which i knew), with an internal diameter slightly smaller than the stock shocks.

So, since the ID is slightly smaller, and the mounting eye is a bit wider than stock, these friggin things don't fit. Anyone have any ideas on how i should mount these suckers up?

I'm guessing go speak with a welder, have him toss on some new mounting points. Any rough ideas on how much this should cost so i don't get burned?

Other updates on this bike, bought that 'Jesse James etc.' seat from the link above, pan is awesome, 'cept i ordered the 10" instead of the 12" so it looks oddly small. Good news is i talked to the guys and they'll happily swap me out for the larger pan. Great customer service, heavy duty pan.

NO FRIGGIN WAY!

Dude! Toreadorranger I found your thread on XJBikes forum and was like, HOLY SHIT I MUST DO THIS.

That photo's been my desktop background for way to long.

Anyway, i will try to snap some pic's either tonight or tmrw. Any chance you remember specifically what shocks they were? or what year/make/model bike they were one originally?

I traded my stock 650 tank for them. Ill see if I can figure out what they are for. They were defidently harley sportster shocks. Im not sure on the year. I had to modify the eyes on them to get them to fit correctly.

As in, kinda of bore out the eye's a bit? i noticed the eye's on the ones i bought were just a hair to small in diameter to get over the shock mount. Also they're 1" wide, and the shock mount is 3/4"

Is it safe to grind 1/4" off the eye and bore out that internal diameter a bit?

There is a metal sleeve in a rubber bushing in the eye right? Im pretty sure I just removed the metal sleave and ran the bolt on the bushing. for the bottom mount I cut down the mount to fit the 3/4" width.

That is good news. Sounds like we're using the same part. So im assuming it never blew out on you right? :)

I'll get chopping this weekend. Thanks for the tips.
