Well, here we go.
Had a shitty experience from the get go.
I got called out on a crime scene Friday night (go figure it was 9/11) so I didn't have enough time to finish the tank and paint it. So Saturday morning got the tank painted mounted and plumbed. I still needed to figure out my jetting so I took it for a quick run to get some color on the plugs. Took it around the block and then got it up to about 60. Just before I hit the kill switch so I could check the plugs the somebitch hot seized. Tore the engine down tonight and found out the rings froze on #1 piston. So a new piston and rings it is for me.
Back to the trip:
After they came and picked my lame ass up with the trailer we gathered our gear and headed out with the crash car (tough ass mini-van) following (thanks Tim).
My brother's amazing '71 CB750
Me on the 450 just before I blew her up
Gabe's bad ass chopper
Jeremy's KZ1000
Matt's xs400
Stopped for some Taco Bell to give us some nourishment for the trip.
Our usual stop at the base of the cascade mountains for some smokes and to dial in any of the bikes that needed adjustments. Weather was treating us good so far. This was just after we all got scouted by some outlaw motorcycle gang to see if we were flying colors. Won't meantion who they were, I figure that they would be embarrased if people found out that they thought that a group of guys riding some cafe racers, three harleys, and a Honda enduro was a biker gang. Morons.
Back on the road, made it over the pass, heading through Crescent Lake Junction, and on to Highway 97
Finally at the desert, Fort Rock road near Christmas Valley. After a few smokes and some shit talking we headed out again.
150 miles later we finally arrive at the Cowboy Dinner Tree restaurant.
Look at those steaks.
Menu choices: Beef or Chicken
Beef: 32 ounce steaks
Chicken: a whole chicken
Fat, dumb, and happy. Deciding to head out to the cabin or just go down the road and find a spot to camp.
Decided to camp under the stars (even though it looked like we'd get some rain [and we did])
Had some fun, drank some whiskey, and passed out
Packing up and getting ready to head home.
Stopped at a local bar in Crescent for some damn fine food.
Damn! Hit by a huge rain storm coming back through Crescent Lake Junction
Chillin in the crash van waiting out the weather.
We all arrive back to Eugene.
All in all a great trip. Can't wait to do it all over again next year.
