Reminds me of...me No, I'm sure of it. I hate him
I don't hold anything. But i tell that to people right away. As a seller, of all things household, jeep parts, car parts etc, i've had too many buyers whose excitement wanes after theys sleep on it, and i'm back to square 1 trying to find a buyer again. Just as frustratinng. I don't even know why people commit if they are not certain they will go through with it. Ridiculous.
So i always say, its only yours if you show up here with money. If someone else shows up first, i'm selling it to them.
I'll normally hold stuff for a day before passing it on to the next buyer in line. Gives people the chance to make plans to come get it.
Just from personal dealings there's nothing worse than telling someone "okay i'll take it, i'll be there after work" and then have they text you back an hour later saying "sorry some useless shmuck without a job showed up and bought it while you were at work"
You can't expect someone to just drop what they are doing and be at your house immediately IMO.
Although I agree that it leads to more people backing out, it's just the way I would like to be treated.
It also depends what it is too, for a motorcycle I'll hold for a day so they can arrange to be off work and get a truck etc.
For a 30 dollar fender I could care less, first come first serve.
