Hey guys,
I decided to make my own seat so it fit the frame, and rear hoop how I wanted. I have done some fiberglassing in the past, but nothing to this scale. It was a pretty easy process. The toughest part was getting the seat shaped to the contour I felt fit the lines of the bike. After it was shaped, I taped some rubber tubing around the seat pan so the upholstery has a "shelf" to sit in. After that, it was just a matter of applying some carnuba cleaner wax as a release agent, and lay down the resin and fiberglass mat. It has been reinforced with more mat and resin. For a mount, I drilled/tapped a piece of solid round stock, and epoxied it to the underside. It still needs bodywork, but the last picture shows it sanded with 80 grit. I still have the mold, and could make some more for any members interested.
foam shaped
taped up
pulled from the mold, and reinforced
rough sanded with 80grit and orbital sander
mounted
