Coast to Coast
Per my comments on a previous post, the Kitchener Chapter of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group is having their spring swap meet at the Military and Motorcycle Museum in Brantford ON.
From 8:00 am 'til early afternoon, but get there early for the best deals.
$5.00 donation to get in to browse or sell parts.
Access to the museum, food vendor on site.
Nice ride from GTA if the weather is good.
Go to www.cvmg.ca for details and directions.
Hope to see you there.

I'll be there. Have some new parts ('glass, seat foam and windscreens) to sell as well as a bunch of used parts. Have had a few emails from guys who are going to pick up stuff but don't know how many other DTT'ers are going to show. The weather is supposed to be sunny and around 18 Celsius.

Pretty pissed off with this meet! Drove from Kitchener, got there at 1 and everyone but Pat, and 2 other vendors were gone!!! They advertise that the swap is on till 2, then the vendors should be there till 2!!! Organizers should be taking a deposit from vendors, which is returned at the end of the day. Leave early, no refund! I know there were other guys who drove from TO for nothing too.

i got there early and there was only a few guys set up. i drove down from Caledon early and was pretty dissapointed as well. mostly harley and indian parts this morning a few guys with british stuff and thats about it. don't know if i'll do that one again!

For a swap meet that isn't advertised beyond the cvmg newsletter it is what it is. Bunch of local enthusiasts out to sell what they've been tripping over in the garage. I was there at about 10 o'clock and enjoyed it. Reason to go for a ride, late 50s goldstar parked beside me, bunch of good comments about my bike, a cool walk through the museum, got to drool on Bills slammed aluminum bodied milk truck, got to see a bunch of guys that I ride trials with and got to see what quality fiberglass work looks like! Didn't buy anything but I didn't think I would. All in all a good trip IMO. Sorry it didn't work out that way for all. Better luck at the memorial swap meet in the fall!

That swap was advertised on other forums, as well as on KIJIJI. I read clearly it was on till 2, and had some customers dropping off bikes this morning, so I wasn't all that worried about getting there a little later. When I got there, I WAS PISSED!!! I'll won't waste a minute of my time even thinking about that one ever again. Waste of gas

I've been going to the Brantford Meet for 6 or 7 years now. From the other side of the table - ie, being a vendor, I felt it was the best one yet. Renewed a lot of acquaintances, made a lot of new friends, bought a few things, sold some stuff and took a few orders. I had a decent amount of commerce throughout the day.
A bunch of my friends rode their bikes to the meet. One of them told me the parking lot was full when he got there, cars were parked along the road and he'd never seen as many vendors or people there. You're right about the ending time - a lot of the vendors left early and I was one of the last to leave.
In my first post, I mentioned getting there early. I was there well before 8:00 am and there were already a dozen or so guys set up and conducting business. Maybe they should call it the sunrise swap meet or something and start at daybreak and end at noon - I dunno.
The Fort Erie Swap Meet was today and a number of the vendors told me they were headed directly there from Brantford, so that may have had something to do with their early departure.
For what is a strictly volunteer event, I thought it was pretty good. If you want to provide some constructive comments to the organizers - or even help out next year, I'd suggest you go to the CVMG site, toggle the events section and get the email address of the contact fellow from the Kitchener CVMG Chapter and see what improvements they - and we - can all come up with.
In closing, it was great to see everybody who stopped by the booth!
Regards,
Pat Cowan.
