Cx500 Rick's stator wiring question.

I'm in the middle of replacing my stator with a Rick's motorsport stator. I'm pretty much done but I got to wondering about the 3 yellow wires that connect to the rectifier.

My question is, does it matter what position the leads are placed in the terminal?

make sure when you put the connectors on you do a good job crimping them and use dielectric grease when plugging them

together or it can burn up

use a factory or equivalent thickness rear cover gasket and check that the shifter shaft spacer shim is between the shift shaft

and the block

test for for proper shifting as you put the rear cover on

if you use a aftermarket gasket and its to thin it will jam the shift linkage

you are either on a smartphone or have really thick fingers :)

You have a picture of this spacer shim? I'm not sure what you're referring to.

I actually don't have it. It wasn't there when I opened it up. Is it really that important since the shifter peg lever (or whatever you call it) will lock it in place?

yes it is

if it is not there the shifter will gouge the engine block and bind so wont shift smooth

while we are on the subject of spacer shims make sure the 2 washer shims marked 15

are also there or you will have starter problems eventually

some times when people take the rear cover off they dont notice these falling off i find them missing all the time

Can I just use any washer that fits? As for the other 2, I don't take all that stuff loose when I changed the stator. Does that mean I did something wrong?

i you didnt take the starter gear off that is ok

just check that the washers are there

i would order the correct washer but that is me if you use one that is too thick it can jam the shift lever

I'm having a hard time following I guess. From what I can tell, once everything has been reinstalled, that lever shouldn't be able to move in and out but only rotate. However I did try to order that washer but they said its no longer available. Any idea as to how thick it might be? Oh, and thanks for the guidance by the way.

its a 12 mm bore washer i am not at home so cant measure them either

but if its not there the shifter will bind or pop inward

and disengage from the other linkage arm and stop shifting all together

I took a look at it and saw what you mean once I got home. I had to drill out a washer to make one work, but I think it's good now.

Could one of you guys tell me what the name of the oil seal is on the rear cover on the back side of the water pump seal?

its part number 16
