Cylinder clearance numbers for 400f big bore kit.

Re: Cylinder clearance numbers for 400f big bore kit.

Typically 500 on regular engines, so shoot for that I guess. But you hear different things. Some say break it in, others say start driving it like you will be driving it later on. So it's grain of salt situations, but I would guess 500 would be plenty.

Awesome man, I'm jealous. I can't wait to finish mine. Its a good 6 months from that though....or more. frownface.

I would do an 'early' oil change on a re-built motor, there will be several parts bedding in and various bits of dirt/metal circulating in oil or caught in filter (mainly on a microscopic level, I just want stuff out of my engine ;) )

I figured that was without saying PJ.. Definitely change the oil after the break in.. and probable again after that.. its cheap. Change it at 500 and a 1000 for good measure. Its' only a 4 dollar filter and a spoonful of oil..

Ill be changing it this week! Let me know if you got any more questions Ronnie I know these motors inside and out! I just picked up a 1974 suzuki gt185 pretty stoked

I have a question actually. I tried splitting the case open and it wont come apart. I have yet to take the clutch off. I hear I am supposed to take that off. I have the "service manual" but its vague as it is only a supplement to the 350f which is stupid. What am I looking at in terms of splitting th case open. The clutch is the only thing? Or is there some other thing I'm not seeing. I'll be taking the cltuch off this evening. Having to clean up the garage since hurricane Isaac.

You have pulled the starter clutch shaft to disconnect the primary chain ?
If not the primary chain will hole the case halves together.

Note : starter clutch and transmission clutch NOT THE SAME THING

That's the primary chain in the middle of the engine and the starter clutch shaft lying off to the right.

Alright, I'll look at it.. I can't get the clutch off cause I dont have that special socket with the four prongs. So that 16mm locking nut is still on. I'll move on to the starter clutch shaft..

Got it done.. Putting it back together will probably, hopefully, be easier. And I hope I don't have any bolts hanging around after haha.. Seriously though ha
