Cylinder head gouge

was cleaning up the head today around the valves and uncovered this....
I have no idea how serious this is, any thoughts??

not good, needs a new piston and the cut in the head will blow past the copper casket ring in time, so either repair (weld) the head or get a new head, which ever is cheaper. i wouldnt put it back like that
 
I don't think it will be a problem. That is not an area that seals to the head gasket. You would want to peen down the points that stick out.

Two completely different answers haha :D I see what your saying AlphaDog about it not being in an crucial areas. Makes sense I guess. What do you think about the piston?
 
Actual damage isn't something to scrap the engine over.
File down the edges and such.

But the real issue is where did the piece of metal that caused the damage come from or go to?
That is the real issue that needs to be sorted
