Hoosier Daddy
Earache my eye...
Yesterday I was out for a meet-n-greet with a bunch of other area ‘old-wing owners to Decatur IN. As part of it we cruised over to an old bike shop a couple of us knew about. We had a BLAST! If you ever in the area… or even remotely close… find D&A Motorcycle Salvage (260) 724-7055. They don’t have a website and do not do e-bay. It’s truly an old fashioned business. Calling first is always best especially on a Saturday and slim chance on Sunday. Dave has been in business a long time, how long? Well, in the ‘80’s I had a couple BSA’s and back then it was an old shop…and was the only place in the area I could get parts for them. Now that I am older and wiser, I was wide-eyed and drooling all over the place. 2 large two story barns, chucked FULL of bikes and parts. Everything organized and sorted it was mental overload! So even though I had my cell phone, this is just a TASTE of what kind of inventory he has. No picture is the same room. OK, well some are but only of the parts racks showing different shelves to give you an idea of the stock level in that particular room!) and each room was cataloged up front.
Work room to the right of the office / show-room when I started takin pics.
Had this on the wall…
Upstairs, One room of complete bikes, CB’s, Kaw H-1’s, a Dream and sorts.
Behind me were these 4 Beneli’s and 3 spare engines tucked in a corner
Along the wall was this stock CB350F just like mine used to be.
Speedo’s! Get your Speedo’s! Some only had hundreds of miles.
Sprockets in a hallway, (one of many!)
Exhaust in the stair well.
First of two aisles of tanks, guessin 25-30’ in length.
…and then thee and four rows
Seats were EVERYWHERE!
Fenders anyone? How about an entire WALL!
This tank hanging on a wall really caught my eye, black with silver sides.
A room of engines, lots and lots of engines!
Bikes, bike, bikes… rooms and rooms of them, and wheels along the wall. I remember that this is from the second barn.
Oh geeze ANOTER room of engines! And frames in the middle
Exhaust and tail sections
This sign was STINKIN HUGE and even more exhast pipes hanging behind it!
And then, in the top floor of THAT barn was a finished room like a museum!
… that had ANOTHER CB350-F plus a pair of CB-400F’s
All this stuff in the case was pristine!
Back down stairs to yet another room of bike, my God, by now I have lost track.
I am sure I screwed some of this up as there was just SO MUCH to take in.
Next time I go I am taking two things, a trailer and the CHECKBOOK!
Momma!!!
