AHHH Von yinz you hurt my feeling's.. :'( is evryone going to be all up tight , or cant we have alittle fun!
Hurley knows he has a bad ass bike

Congrats on the win hurley, wasn't a member when it first came around for BOTM. Looks badass well done !

Congratulations Hurley209 - Repsol

Pretty sad that a box of parts gets more votes than the Freddie Spencer Replica, ffjmoore - Big Blue, or Jose H.3.
You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. That is so disrespectful to all the other contestants and speaks to what shit the DTT BOTM really is.

Shame on you!
FJ

Relax. The right bike won. The box of parts is clearly a joke. Nobody should be ashamed of having a sense of humor.

View it anyway you want.

Nominating a box of parts for BOTM was funny, but voting for is insulting to the other contestants. Hopefully none of the 26 voters participate in civic, provincial or federal elections.

Kinda taking everything a bit too serious aren't we? Maybe removing the "Fun" from your name would be a good idea. ;P

Each bike is amazing in their own right. I've watched most of these builds all the way through, and enjoy each for their uniqe qualities too. I did skip the thread on the box of parts though... :-X

Can't wait for the next month. Always fun to see more great builds! (now get back to work guys)

Once again people getting bent out of shape over voting. It's called a life, get one.

It might just be me, but I think it looses its prestige and sense of accomplishment in receiving BOTM. Eventually the members completely loose interest and the award is deemed worthless.

FunJimmy - I tend to agree with you to be honest, but I've always maintained that we would keep the nomination process completely wide open. The moment we start imposing criteria for qualifying to be nominated, we start down a slippery slope of more and more 'rules' to vet nominees against.

That being said, I might consider imposing a simple rule that the nominated bike must be in running condition. None of our bikes is ever 'finished', as Repsol is clearly an example of, continuing to evolve and even winning BOTM twice, so saying a bike has to be 'finished' is too ambiguous, but to say it has to be running under its own power capable of moving down the street carrying it's rider is perhaps not too much of a limitation and would avoid the 'box of parts' or completely in-progress bike from being considered.

Feedback is welcomed, and again, at the end of the day, this site and its content is all about the members and your will. You create the content, and in this case, you control the vote. So if a box of parts happens to garner votes for one reason or another, so be it.

I also firmly believe each of the other bikes and their respective owners are self confident enough and have enough of a sense of humor to weather this little storm. You can't argue against any of the nominated bikes in terms of their excellence, the skill and vision involved in putting them together, their performance capabilities and aesthetic appeal. It's kind of like a beauty pageant - you're looking at the cream of the crop all in one place, and the one that gains the most votes today may not have if the line up was slightly different.

First off, congrats Josh! Well deserved my friend!

Secondly, what the fuck is wrong with all you idiots who voted for the box of parts? Some great bikes up there this month, and the box ties for second??? Have a little fucking pride in your community and your fellow man putting in the extra effort here. Maybe I missed some discussion on this in the nomination thread or elsewhere, but I'm pretty damn ashamed.

I second this.

Well said and great suggestions.

Thanks Chris. I was starting to wonder if I was the only one who questioned the logic.

Well, the requirement that the bike be running certainly takes mine out of contention for now... although it's doubtful that a bare frame would win anyway. So I third or fourth the motion...

I!

I believe the only reason the box got any votes was out of jest. Surely nobody thinks that box is nicer than any of the bikes. Tim has the "secret" voting set up so nobody probably even realized that it was getting votes and tacked on their vote. Basically, it's pretty much a non-issue IMO. The rules are changed, a great bike one BOTM (congrats again Josh), and hopefully the owners of the other bikes realize that it was just a joke that got out of hand.

Thanks again to Tim for all his hard work setting this up. We do appreciate it.
