So after a month of hanging around on DTT and posting my intro showcasing some of my Suzuki's... I figured I'd go ahead and start a thread about my 1977 GS550*. It'll be reconstituted more or less as a "standard" bike though it won't be a full restoration.
*I'm also simultaneously working on a 1980 GN400, a 1980 GS450E (full restoration of my first bike that I bought at the age of 16 way back in the fall of 1980) and a 1983 GR650. And of course there are three Suzuki smokers and a '79 GS750L collecting dust that keep wanting my attention and being started on someday...
Anyways - some photos of the GS550.
As found a few months ago...
Sitting at the homestead...
Pulling the motor...
Stripped frame...
Seized motor being busted down...
And a few top end components from a GS650...
This project will be s-l-o-w going. I have a newer Suzuki that I ride when I feel the need to spin tires so I'm in no major rush to get this machine up and running. And of course I have the other mentioned ongoing bike projects to divert my attention. Add in the daily routine of work, spending time with the wife unit, house remodeling, playing with firearms, gardening/yard work, etc... so yeah... a very slow project.
