Derbi GPR 50cc twostroke ripper costello

boobby

derp
i picked this thing up for 350 bucks from a guy who completely trashed it and didn't want to put the money into it to fix the laundry list of issues.. Besides having a blown up top end and swollen radiator, it had a sweet aftermarket alarm and some auxiliary lighting that was incorrectly hooked up and melting wires. On the up side this bike has a good transmission, i have another crank and race top end (also a 110cc stroker setup if im feeling kinky), spare motor that i built a few months ago if need be, and good wheels and kinda good suspension (need to replace the seals).. i currently have a nice version of one of these gpr Derbi's and the super moto version that i wouldn't ever want to cut up, so i am stoked to be able to do some cutting on one of these and not care.. with a 6 speed watercooled 80cc motor this thing should be a blast

Re: Derbi GPR 80cc twostroke ripper costello

Great little bike! Looks like a late model. What year is it?

(nearly picked up a 80cc Derbi about year go for the exact same change! :)

Re: Derbi GPR 80cc twostroke ripper costello

Sign Me up. I almost bought a 50cc version of these as you can ride em here at 14 with no license, but it was gone before I got to the guy. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

Re: Derbi GPR 80cc twostroke ripper costello

80cc?? that thing looks like it could be in SBK. looks fantastic, wanna hear it rip!!

Re: Derbi GPR 80cc twostroke ripper costello

thanks, it is a 2003 model, and it is the 50cc model but has a gpr75 motor swapped in it with a longer stroke.. i had to get few more rebuild items shipped over from europe that hopefully should be here next week, im gonna yank the motor today or tomorrow and see if i wanna just do a different top end or go ahead and do the 110 stroker setup in it

Re: Derbi GPR 80cc twostroke ripper costello

seriously neat little fella. imagine how stoked you'd be riding this thing when you were little. i'd be frothing at the mouth, no doubt.
how much do they weigh in? they look solid

Re: Derbi GPR 80cc twostroke ripper costello

Well I loved your last build, and I love this little Derbi, so I'm on the grandstands!

Re: Derbi GPR 80cc twostroke ripper costello

forget what the weight number it is but not much.. these are a pretty large chassis also, so it really doesn't feel too small unless you are somewhere windy.. really fun in the mountains

Re: Derbi GPR 80cc twostroke ripper costello

That is one smooth cylinder :D

Re: Derbi GPR 80cc twostroke ripper costello

have a new crank, bearings, seals, clutch, and clutch springs in the motor and just am now waiting for the waterpump rebuild kit to show up for it

So, i had a change of hart and decided to do the setup in the last pics on my derbi senda rather than this thing, so i am gonna do this thing as a true 49cc blaster.. got all the tabs busted off the frame and the motor in (minus a water pump), the exhaust fits perfectly and i am hoping to get above 70mph out of a true 49cc motor with some proper tuning, i will do some runs with the gps to support this.

i started going through the harness last night and was pulling everything i need to keep the electric start, but i think i may leave it off and make it bump start only, it's a tiny twostroke so the motor turns over pretty damn easy. i also through a six pedal carbon reed block in and a 21mm carb
