Dim h4 on CB350

Recently bought the 7" 55w headlight from DCC. and after installing it on my '70 CB350, the light is very dim. I saw another thread around here talking about how the vintage hondas may have trouble with these bulbs. Can anyone confirm this? How do i get a bit more brightness out of this bulb? Do i need to install one of those converters? Or maybe simply just a 35W bulb?

Thanks!

Stock charging system on a 350 is super weak. Does the light get brighter when you rev the motor?

55W is a lot for the stock CB350 to handle, I believe the stock headlight was only 25/35W. Does that headlight you bought allow you to swap out the bulb? Or is it a sealed lens?

it doesn't change brightness when i rev the engine. I've got Ricks high output charging kit on there so that should help a bit. I'll look into swapping out the bulb. with my luck though, it's sealed and i'll just have to buy another.

The weird part is the Hi-beam is really bright, like it should be. Maybe i wired up the low beam incorrectly?

If you mixed up the wiring, that could be an issue. If the ground is on the wrong connector, high beam would look normal, but low beam would be going through both the high and low beam elements to get to ground, making it much dimmer.

Does Rick's say how much more their alternator puts out? The stock is 110 watts. The CB360 gets 130 watts out (Same size alternator) , but I wonder how much more can be squeezed into the space. There online literature doesn't really state an output number.
