Dimming headlight

Left my truck at the shop today and rode my 350f home and am wondering if I should risk riding it back in the morning. Problems started with the bike cutting out around 4 grand. Then when I stopped behind a car the headlight went out comes back with high revs. Multimeter is at the shop so I cannot check it out tonight but am wondering if it sounds like the rectifier may be going out and will leave me stranded in the morning.

Sounds like a charging issue - could be the rectifier, the stator or a bad battery.


You need to get a multimeter out and do some tests.

Or the regulator or rotor.....Lots of places to go wrong....Regulator would be my first guess.

Check the stator and rotor resistance....You have a field excited alternator, not permanent magnet, so a rotor failure is a possibility too...
