Direct bolt in tanks for 78 kz650

Long story short I've got a 1978 kz650 B that doesn't have a tank. To keep costs down, I'm trying to find a used take-off, but it's near impossible to find a decent one that isn't $250+. So I'm wondering what other tanks will be a direct bolt in? 750, 1000?
 
Are you in the US? Are you looking for a clean tanks that needs nothing or something you are willing to work on?

I have KZ650's also and just did an Ebay search, a few were under 100$
 
750 and 1000 will fit right up, just need correct rubbers or just remove em and razor off to square edge... so they will need to line up going on but free mod vs new rubbers :eek:

I have a nice dent free 76 KZ1000 tank (needs paint), petcock is soaking and free but needs cleaning and a kit... $199 no gas cap included? I can include gas cap, a key and ignition for the full $250?
 
I am in the US and I'd really like to find one that is ready to go, or at least just needs paint.

Found a decent tank on ebay for a good price but it needs a cap. DCC has a tab style cap for $10, but I'm not sure if it would work? I really don't feel like paying $40-50 for a cap if I don't have to.

I have one with key, ignition and seat lock for $100 :eek:
 
Yeah, but just the cap no tank... I have my eye on an NOS tank thats gonna eat a pile of the budget for that KZ 1K so I'm not selling anything cheap right now.

Understandable. Wish I could afford your tank. It's a fair price for what it is, but I'm trying to get something around the $100 if at all possible. Gonna start calling scrapyards. Trying to get this bike drivable ASAP.
