Ok, so I see guys building cafes out of dirtbikes and it looks like they would be alot of fun. Can you make them street legal?

State laws differ. In PA for example indicators are not required.

Mine is actually a dual purpose bike so it was intended to be street legal.
Generally as long as you have a headlight, rear light, speedo and all your registration etc is in order there is no reason why it couldn't be street legal.

I would check with your local laws as some bikes might be considered un-registrable for road use for a variety of reasons. Like power to weight ratio or something ridiculous like that. Originally coming from Australia I have a very high expectation of stupid road laws.

ive been thinking about this for a future project. i think the tricky part is getting power for the lights.

well i called the department of motor vehicles here in georgia and lady thought i was retarded for even asking what it would take to get one registered.

I've done it twice, once in Georgia and once in Texas. I added aftermarket light kits to both bikes, showed the receipts for the DOT approved kits and received the titles, tags and registration. Getting insurance was more painful then getting the plates.
Both were late model 4 stroke off road bikes, one a Yamaha and the other a KTM.
I found the information "how to" and the place to order the kits on the off road sites.
