Do all components need to be grounded on the bike?

I'm going to simplify the wiring on my bike and moving all components to a "under the seat pan tray"
do all the components need to be grounded thru their chasis (Igniter,starter relay, R\R etc..)

btw the bike is a 84 Suzuki GSX 400 (no points)

All electric travels in a CIRCUIT. That means there is a supply and return. The supply is usually a wire. The return is sometimes a wire, sometimes the metal chassis.

Items like signals are often mounted on isolated from the frame mounts. This means the ground (or return) needs a conductive path other than the mounting point. This is usually a wire.
