DO THE TON - Barber Vintage Festival - Alabama October 7-8-9 2011

Thomas, It was nice meeting you, don't forget to Holla if you need help or parts. Between NEal, Tim and myself you should be rolling on that XS by spring. And mikesxs.com is your friend. Lots of affordable parts and eye candy.

That's where I was coming from, the BRP.I left home, went through Chimney Rock,up to Mt Mitchell, had lunch, and hit I-26 for the return journey.Sure was windy.I was think that since it was later in the day that maybe the guys were headed back home.I learned not to do the BRP at night on the weekends.I came across to many drunks there at night. They try to slip down the BRP from Cherokee casino. Many know it's rarely patrolled.I think I've seen three park rangers in 20+ years of traveling the BRP.

Man, I missed out on the pecan pie :( Gonna have to cook it up ONCE WE GET THE RECIPE ;)

Need help tracking down a builder that was at the Barber Vintage event in the Cafe Racer area Friday afternoon. He had a super trick street tracker/ cafe. It was a single/thumper with white wheels with the rear disc brake mounted at the front sprocket. He had taken a sharpie magic marker and written all over the bike. He wrote "not a Honda" on the tank, even though it had a Honda tank. He had also written on the tail section advertising his fabrication work. He said he was 22 years old. Does anybody know this guy? It seemed like he was local from the Birmingham area. I am kicking myself for not getting his contact info or pic of the bike.

I don't have his contact info but that was a pretty trick bike. Very impressive for a 22 year old.

So you saw it too. Damn, I wished I would have got his info. I kept thinking I would see it or him again later, but never saw him or the bike the rest of the weekend. Anybody out there get a pic?

I'm sure someone did. He gave me a lot of attitude on Saturday when I asked him to move the bike from the area or sign up for the bike show. I chalked it up to him being 22, as he was so keen to point out by writing all over his bike (now if it was built by a 12 year old I'd be impressed, but 22 isn't that young).

It was a neat bike - I think the rotor on the sprocket thing is a common thing on some bikes from what I've heard.

Why do you need him so badly?

I think the rotor sprocket combo is a given on those aftermarket chopper kits.

Was some nice work. I think the kid said he was from the Chattanooga area.

That kid is an ass. That bike has been in incomplete for the last 5yrs. His old man is an even bigger ass. He's the guy that builds really wacky stuff, like a desil powerd engine in a Vincent frame with a Triumph gearbox and primary. They bring that goofy stufff to rallys, then refuse to discuss the reasons or the mods. And talk shit about brit bikes all weeekend at a brit rally. Yeah they make neat parts, but so what. Useless.

Heres the thing they brought to last years BIBR. Yeah, thats a Buell Blast engine. Why? apparently just to piss themselves off. They certianly didn't enjoy talking about it. Hmmm.

So many contradictions there.^^^ A webb girder with a disc brake? A very underwhelming engine in a cool old frame?

The reason I bring this up is not just to make personal attacks. Though if you've met them, you'd understand. I mention this because it reflects a common thread in their builds- neat mods for no apperant reason or benifit. If you're interested in anything they've done, I'm sure you could find a fabricator equally or more talented, who's not a complete fuckhead.

Sorry for regressing to my hostile ways, but these guys really get under my skin.

Wow that bike is an abomination... guys I did see the aforementioned bike with the sharpie advertising on Sunday, and did snap a pic of all the contact info, it's on my camera somewhere, ill try to dig it out if ya still want it. May be tomorrow before I get to it.
