Do the Ton clothes on CafePress

Coast to Coast
I was surprised I have never seen this stuff mentioned. Price is a little steep, but worth it to have somethin authentic in the end. Lots of cafe racer designs on clothing....check it out if you want

Is there a back-story to the Toronto Do the Ton design ending up on this corporate site???

If you want current authentic DO THE TON gear that supports the site, let me know. The items sold at Cafe Press were set up by someone who isn't affiliated with the board and proceeds from the sale of those items do NOT support our site.

That being said, anyone really can grab our image and create whatever products they feel like at Zazzle, Cafe Press etc. and without a team of lawyers and bags of money, we can't (and really wouldn't bother) do much about it.

We have some great members on the site who will embroider patches etc. for you.

I have one of the cafepress shirts. It was originally advertised on here but the person hasn't been around for a couple years.

Tim, what's the new donate button? Costs picking up?

No - just a feature I was fooling around with - didn't expect anyone to notice and don't need any donations :) Of course if someone wants to throw $1 through it...

Ultimately I want to rid the board of the Google Ads. Really just waiting for the $ earned from the ads to reach the magic point where Google will actually send a payment. They don't bother sending out a few bucks. Once they send the payment for the few dollars that are in the account I'll remove the ads and be done with their ads.

The patches were helpful, but it took 7 months to sell 100 of them to about 70 people. So only 70 members of the 2,400 we have ever bought patches. I'd love to order another 100 so they're available for folks, but the upfront cost isn't cheap. I might put up a poll to gauge interest in another round of 3 or 4 inch patches.

We might also look into having a few select 'sponsors' identified on the board who pay a small monthly fee for having their small banner ads up. I'm sure we're generating some business for someone out there :) If the board generated a little revenue, we could do some fun things like send out free stickers, sponsor things etc.

What about the couple of guys on the board who sell things like seats or other cafe specific parts? A cafe racer board with cafe racer advertising would be cool......i dont know anything about the AD biz, so just an idea :)

Sounds good. It's high time you got some revenue for the site upkeep.

Keep me (us) posted on what you come up with for money making options and I'll help how I can.

I checked out the stuff at cafe press, and I might have to get a t-shirt and coffee mug... Unless these items are for sale here? Anyways, as I said in the patch poll, I'm in for one of them, maybe two. And I've gotten in touch with swapmeet louie about some decals, although I'm not sure if the money from these will go to the site. Aside from the next batch of patches and the donate button, is there any other "official" do the ton gear available? I'd just like to know all available methods of funnelling money to the site to ensure that we get to keep enjoying this awesome source of knowledge, fellowship, and shooting-the-shit.

I'll set something up with Zazzle - I've got an account and can create whatever products I want. I have one of their t-shirts and the shirt itself it top quality, and the print is pretty good also. Is a good option for the US based folks. For Canadians, the exchange rate and shipping is killer.

If there was enough confirmed interest, I'd go order up a bunch of t-shirts, but you can imagine the up-front costs are pretty high. Even for patches I'm out $100's up front, and it took 7 months to sell them.

Anyhow - let me look into a couple things and I'll post the Zazzle link up shortly for you to order t-shirts, mugs, aprons, etc. etc. etc :)

Thanks man. will funds from the zazzle sales go to the site or is it all for zazzle? Anywayz, I understand the t-shirt thing. That could get ridiculous... I mean where are you gonna put your bikes when your garage is full of boxes of unsold t-shirts? ;D

Well, I could sew them together and make covers for the bikes I suppose!

The board will get a small piece of the Zazzle sales - VERY small :) It's really just convenient and zero up-front costs. You could take the logo and put it on anything you want at Zazzle yourself and order it - I did that myself already.

This is my Zazzle store:

I got a guy that i use for all my clothing work though lite em up.. he is pretty reasonable and does all embroidery work and silk screening... my buddies girl does most of my silkscreening... i can talk to her abotu making up some shirts> i am sure she will!

I'd buy one of the shirts in a pre-order.
Otherwise I'd just grab one of the zazzle shirts, but they obviously aren't as nice as a good silk screening, so I'll wait a bit to see how this goes down.

ahh i did not know that there was someone already making these, i dont want to step on someones toes... if Zazzle will not mind i can check on a silk screening

If you are looking to have some shirts made, I have had good experiences with a company called Embroid Me. I have dealt with one in Woodbridge but they are a chain with stores all over. They have good quality shirts for a relatively low price. Foe example me and some friends got thick longsleeve t's with a single colour silkscreen for about $15 a shirt plus the inital set up cost, which was small. They will do patches, hats, mugs and all kinds of rpomo items as well with the advantage of being able to set up an order, collect the money and then have them made.
