Do the Ton Magazine

Been Around the Block
So when is it gonna happen and when can I pre-order a subscription? I figured with all the builds and bikes of the month on this thread you have enough content for a lifetime. Has this been brought up already?

Technically, the Cafe Racer market still has a lot of room for improvement/building. It's still a niche scene basically. Therefore, I love magazines, great articles, pictures, builds, product testing, etc. Sometimes, you can't use your phone to access the DTT forum while in... certain situations. The internet will forever hold "all the information about everything", but you won't completely ever replace printed media.

Another words, if someone has the time and money to get a DTT magazine going, i'd subscribe. And if you need help, hit me up. I've worked for two magazine companies in the past, and know a lot of the ins and outs of whats involved.

With that said, Cafe Racer Magazine, MM, CMM already exist, and when you combine those three magazines, you basically get everything you want. I would suggest a magazine that incorporates all of the DTT family/support. As in, Cafe Racers, Brats, Trackers, Bobbers, etc. Kinda like that magazine that came out a few years ago for import car tuner guys, it was basically a monthly magazine about garage builds, and DIY turbo kits, etc. etc. Tapping into the niche of people who build their own parts and bikes due to money restrictions, would be the way to start.

Has anyone joined the VJMC (Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club)? It's cheap to join and you get a subscription to their magazine as well as access to tech and members only portions of there site AND an invite to your local chapters yearly BBQ (well in Cleveland at least). I think it cost me $30 a year. Well worth it.

Someone broght the idea up last year? Hell, may have been me but it was chalked up to the internet is easier.

yea we can do it better than cafe racer mag.. lol...not that its a bad magazine or anything lol but y not have 2 ..

Sounds like we need some renewed interest in Filth Machine! Do a search here....

And I'd love for SOMETHING to replace that shit-publication "Cafe Racer".

Yea, paging Von to the white courtesy phone... Von to the white courtesy phone...

And I don't find Cafe Racer magazine to be bad, just bland.
Sorta like Piccadillys meatloaf vs. Cajun Jambalaya ;)

DO THE TON Magazine is already here - you're reading it! And Subscriptions are only $10 a year (or free if you don't feel like paying ;))

I think an eZine would be the way to go...high quality PDF sent out to subscribers. All the info and photos are here on the site, it just needs to be put in story form, theme the issues and feature our own members DIY best ideas, bikes and cafe culture. Although I grew up with the internet and spend practically all my time on it, i get tired of sifting through blogs when all i want to do is appreciate other's creativity and ingenuity through pictures and a story. If anyone is serious, I would be all in on helping make it happen...I have professional document design/layout experience.

Anything is better than "Cafe Racer" magazine.

Thank you. I bought one issue back in September, and cringed the whole way through. Some of the photos were nice. Absolutely none of the writing was any good. Beyond cheesy...and no real technical knowledge.

That's exactly what I'm saying!

LOTS of room for improvement from what's on the news stands. I really like to have printed material in my hands and hate to be tied to the computer desk. My cycle mags find themselves in places I like to hang such as the barn, garage and most importantly the bathroom. Wife would shit a brick if I took the computer to any of those places. ha

I like reading all I can in this forum, but to have an actual magazine of all the people and builds in this forum would be pretty good as well. I don't take my computer everywhere, so I'm in on a magazine.

FILTH MACHINE is still alive. Some unfortunate stebacks have made it a bit more difficult to get off of the ground just yet, but its still going to happen. Just may not be until fall or winter of this year. As soon as I can get the ball rolling a little faster, Ill let you folks know.

print mags are really on the way out, the way our culture is going, a monthly or even weekly is obsolete by the time it's printed

Damn I love having a pile of old rags by the shitter or in the shop for a little insperation.

Ive NEVER thrown one out, I have EVERY Hot Rod, Mopar ____, Muscle Car, The Horse, etc... since I was 8.
