Been Around the Block
DTT BOTM WINNER
This may be a bit early, but I am considering heading to barber this year, so what are the must see and dos, and is it worth it to bring one of my bikes or is it beter to have a car there ( are there part venders and swaps)?

I have been twice with a car and brought parts home from the swap meet both times. Honestly, the guys that were there on their bikes looked like they were having a lot more fun.

Fwiw, having a bike at Barbers is the way to go. There are so many DTT people around, that if you buy a part somebody will be there to get it for you. And if you're riding to Barbers, a local can always ship your part to you.

Get a trailer and have the best of both :)

Seriously though, you want to have a bike there. I'm planning on being there again - not sure what bike I'll be bringing or how I'm getting there yet though.

I went for the first time last year and I must say I was blown away with the things to see and do. Coming from Toronto, ON the trip is a little to long to ride and is governed by the weather the further north you travel. So my buddy and I trailered our bikes to Birmingham and then rode to the Barber complex each day. If we found things to pick up in the swap meet area that was too large to carry on the bikes, one of us would ride back to the hotel and grab the truck and come back for it.

It's a definite don't miss event and staying in Birmingham gives you a great ride each morning... see you there 8)

Bro being there without a bike is like standing against the wall at the skating rink waiting for a girl to say yes while they are playing Journey's "openarms". Real world experience on both.

I highly recommend it! Last year they had a VIP set up called "Ace Corner" in honor of the Ace Café in London. I recommend if they have that get the passes and go ahead and try to stay the three days. There is so much to do one day just wont do it. I can't wait until this year. The swap meet was awesome last year. It was probably about 3 football fields long and 5 wide of people with parts and odds and ends. Which brings me to the point of if your there to buy you need a something to haul with. If you are just there for the weekend be prepared to buy something. I rode my 79 GS 425 up there last year and had a blast. But this year I'm going with a group, I will probably ride again, but the group is probably going to trailer down and we plan on camping for the full weekend.

This year will make my 3rd trip to barber. Love it! But yes, if you can take a bike, do so...

This alone is reason to go to barber:

Its only the best thing ever!!!! I think between thurs-sun I only slept 10 hrs. Will be there this year also and hopefully make it to the track more.

Brad, if you don't bring one of your bikes (preferably one of the repli-racers) I'm gonna put a size 9 in your ass when I find you!

As stated, the best scenario is to haul the bike and have the best of both worlds. I've been the last three years. The second one was without my bike, and it sucked.

Im hoping to make it this year. If AHRMA will allow me and my buddy to runour sidecar on track then we will be there. AHRMA says in order to be eligible to race, you must run at least 2 AHRMA events, but last year sidecars were excuded from that rule. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!

Sold!!! I will trailer one maybe 2 of them up there, definitely bringing old freddie and maybe one other. Looks like it will be a blast!!!!!

As the others have said, Barber is a #1 on the "Must Do List"!! 8)

My brother and I drove down from the Toronto area and brought our bikes on the trailer. It was a total blast!! Meeting all the DTT Gang, riding the beauty roads and hangin' out was the true highlight of the season! 8)

You HAFTA go and take your bike along. :)

Bring car trailer and all the bikes you can carry.
I will be there this year with my hopefully finished and running custom cafe CB890 for the bike show.
Thinking about driving and bring my Kawasaki C14 and the Cafe Racer.
Leave the Cafe in the show all weekend and ride the Kawasaki around.

Plus I have all of these left over parts from the build. May bring those also.

Going to Barbers this weekend for the Honda Indy Car races.
