I sell fasteners along with manufacturing and fabrication servies( i actually work at the machine shop). Because of this, i have access to everything we would need to build some gnarly rear sets on the cheap for the members here on Do The Ton. Im interested in knowing who would be willing to purchase sets if i did this project. Also If i am handleing the machining and fastener aspect i would think some one could do the leg work of designing the specs. I think we should use the spade emblem but that may cost more, its all specific. I think it would be awesome to provide soem rear sets for our memebers at cost+shipping!

Im figureing startign with the CB750 due to the immense popularity

Also i was thinking we could bring some guys like Carrpy and BCR on if we come up with some good stuff that they would be willing to sell!

Any takers shoot me an email and we can make this happen:

hope we get some feed back because this would be awesome!

alot depends on rear sets... you will see not may of us have Cb750's but making adjustable rear sets is a much better idea. they would work with several bikes. that would be alot better. Kodiac has made some wicked ones on here!

Ill pop up some design pics later...

well let me know i would be more than happy to lay some powder on them so we can help the people on here get them to match their scoots as well!

Are you machining these CNC or manual? I'm a programmer at the shop I work for, and I have all the G-code programs from when I made mine... I still have my CAM files, so I can easily pop out new programs if there are design changes needed....

I've noticed there are surprisingly few cb750s on this site. Seems most here have smaller lighter bikes. A lot of twins, 550s and 650s. Not to say they aren't here. Just noticing a trend.

manual shop,i need some specs to get a quote so we can see where we stand cost wise
Gotcha... my boss won't be in while I'm here tomorrow... I'll round up what I've got and send it to you.... If I remember correctly, plate and bar stock for my set ran around 20 bucks.... I used 6061 aluminum, .25 thick... with 1.25 and .75 dia bar stock for the pegs....
Can also send specs for the fixture I built for them...

the following thread has a half assed dimensioned drawing of the ones I made for my bike.... This can all be easily adapted for interchangeability... If I was still working on the floor i would just do the machining here, but it's getting pretty tough to get out there for personal work...

they are so dead here so they wouldnt have a problem doin it for me.. im working onn my bike this weekend and probly will do some carboard cutouts myself and maybe get something started at least for the 750 and try to make it universal.

working on getting something started. I got preoccupied with getting my bike to the point where i need rear sets.

maybe be a few weeks b4 something gets going!

If somebody can get me dimensions off their mounting brackets and rearsets, I can start working on some solid models and see what we can do for interchangability...

I.E. I'm thinking of a mounting bracket with multiple sets of holes to accomodate multiple bikes....
