DO THE TON RIDE - SUNDAY SEPT 2

Re: who's riding this Sunday?

Sounds good to me - I could use a good long ride just about now. There's always Famous Sam's for breakie on Sunday mornings, but it's an early morning and for the most part is a show 'n shine.

Any ideas on a destination / time? I'm good pretty much anytime on Sunday.

Re: who's riding this Sunday?

Check out the Sunday CVMG thread:

It's a nice place to eat breakfast and look at some great old bikes - lots of high end restorations - this is mainly a CVMG gathering but a few of us head up every once in a while. I haven't been in a few weeks. People get up there around 9-10AM.

Re: who's riding this Sunday?

well that wasn't the kind of ride was looking for. thinking of scenic route, where it will take me out of the GTA area.

Re: who's riding this Sunday?

Me neither. There's always heading West to Forks of the Credit. Or just pick a direction and head out without any particular destination. I have a GPS so getting back shouldn't be too much trouble.

WHO'S IN?

I made up a route - neat online tool called MotoWhere.

Hmm... depending on how far you want to go, your route puts you just minutes from the 507, Tintin.

I may be interested in a sunday ride as well... depending if I can get my sorry butt into a track day this weekend or not. I'm sure I'll know what I am doing by saturday or tomorrow night.

I was just fooling around with the motowhere software - makes a nice map, tells you how far it is (200KM) and you can export it to Google Earth.

looks good, are those roads any good?
I went up on tuesday and did the big chute to bala to southwood 13 and back down again to TO. THat was awesome cuz there wasn't a lot of traffic.

just wondering how heavy traffic will be in that area? considering its long weekend. last thing I want to do is to sit in a parking lot.

Hey, I'm all for a different route - I was just fooling around with it - I've never ridden those roads. Could be a traffic light every 10 feet for all I know :)

I'd be up for that ride - never been to Bala, and from what I can see on Google maps both Big Chute and Southwood 13 look like fun roads.

hey tintin
I can't ride on sunday anymore, but riding Monday, out around burlington, hamilton area, i want to try an avoid that holiday traffic.
your welcome to come if you want to head out to burlington.

Sounds good - just put Progressive springs in the BMW and want to see how they handle. Not sure where everyone's dissapeared to. Thought there'd have been more interest in a ride this weekend.

this were I plan on riding its short, has some twisties and striaghts. Some roads like sulphur springs have never been on, so not to sure how good the condition, so pace will be cautious around there.

check out the route

This looks pretty good and the Ducky needs to stretch its legs before the oil turns to sludge. I'm gonna go today, shower first...

Yellow ducky, did you renew your license yet? why not ride with me tomorrow? I haven't seen you in a while!

Sorry HawkGurl, dunno if I can go tomorrow, I just made a turn by turn print out for myself, so I am gonna do it today...I'll let you guys know how the roads are. I should be at the starting point in an hr...3pm if anyone wants to meet up. I'll be on the yellow sportsbike.

Ok, I just got back, QEW westbound to Brant street exit was brutal, going like 20km/hr from 403 onwards. I missed out on the Sulphur Springs section cause when I get up from Old Guelph Rd, York Rd is closed off, all scraped up and gravel, you can't get thru. I took a tour of Hamilton instead...hehe

Best is follow the original route from Plains Rd W to Spring Gardens Rd, to Valley Inn Rd, go back NORTH on York Blvd (hwy2/hwy6), back onto Dundas St heading west, then follow the original route of turning left at Rock Chapel Rd, BUT turn left onto Sydenham Rd, back to King St. and then Ogilvie St like the original route.

It was a long ride but is very enjoyable, ride safe and watch out for the loose gravels at Old Guelph Rd downhill S bend!

Thanks for the route Hawkgurl!

hey I did the ride yesterday, no construction on the route roads

You must have turned right on to York rd, towards hwy 6. the route says to turn left on YOrk Rd.

yeah, it was scenic and some twisties too, I did snake road twice that day.

So yellow ducky when are we riding? now that you have a bike we need to catch up on the riding time lost.

Duh, my turn by turn I wrote said to turn right where I should have turned left. Oh well...

I should ride with you next time so I won't get lost ;)

Gimme a holla next time you go ride, I'll come along.
