Screwed and Tattooed

Been Around the Block
well i sure didnt , my neighbor had a cookout the other night and iinvited me and my friends to come over for some food and beer. while I was talking to a freind about bikes and my neighbor jumps in and says to us "what you guys need is a moto guzzi " and were like yeah but good luck finding a nice one, well luck must have been on our sides because he had one in his basement and it was for sale , I would have bought it in a heartbeat but im broke , i offered up my cb750 for it but no bite , however my friend is taking it . which is cool because just the day before he was talking about how much he would like to find one .

No really, that's an awesome story. Chatting up my neighbor is exactly how I wouldn't find a Guzzi.

:D How long have you been waiting to use that Erch?

While my story isn't as cool as S + T's, here goes. When we first moved into our house, we knew that the family across the street had a 15 year old son, father was a truck driver, and the mother was my wife's boss. Just who you want living across the street - your boss. Anyways, I was outside and saw the neighbor cleaning up his garage for a little party so I go over to offer some help. It was a pretty normal garage: small air compressor, couple tool boxes, some bikes covered with sheets, etc.. But the one wall was COVERED with trophies, plaques, ribbons, and pictures. Come to find out, the 15 year old son has been racing dirt bikes since he was old enough to walk.

The bikes under the sheets were a couple of bicycles and a couple of MX bikes. Can't remember what size now, he ended up selling them to buy his first car (I tried to convince him to buy a vintage bike instead).

My entire neighborhood are I.C.E. junkies - mud boggers, old Mopars, some classic Chevy trucks, and me with motorcycles. I'm sure there's some real gems hidden from sight around here.

My stepdad gets a call the other day...

A friend of the family bought the house next to him cause he was sick of the owner renting it out to druggies. Well he starts cleaning the joint up and decides he wants to knock down the garage. The garage that is completly sealed up. So he busts out some of the painted over windows and whats sitting inside but a mid-late 60s big block mustang coupe, and a (as far as I can see, havent gotten inside yet) mid 70s toyota celica. Unfortunatly, the mustang is lying under 1/2 of the roof, which seemingly fell in a couple decades ago. The toyota is under a cover and all i can make out is the ass end. Before he tears the garage down, he did say we can come over and pillage the cars. May be cool. Ill post pics if we get anything interesting.

the neighbor to my right is really cool.. but the only thing in his garage is a large refrigerator where he butchers deer. the neighbor to my left is my landlord, and i don't think he even knows what's in his garage! i share it with him, and can't stand the mess. he's really into scrapping metal, and has no idea what to do with the plastic/glass that comes along with the things he pulls the wires from.. so he just puts it in barrels in my bay.

Last years HD Sportster and a V Star.

Everyone knows about my post of the old BSA's, Huskvarnas and various other bikes, right?

my neighbor is a motorcycle junkie also...

i had a chance at both an RD350 and a GS450... didnt get either. bummer.

Not exactly our neighbor, but....

My father is an antique dealer (40+ years now) and of course comes across just about everything you can imagine. One time, many many years ago, he was looking at some furniture at a farm, and was shown some items in the barn.

Included was an inline-4 Indian with bent forks. Story goes the kid rode it into a tree, bent the forks and parked it.

My father has a strong dislike for motorcycles. He 'forgot' where this was when he told my motorcycle-fanatic uncle about it, and of course we were all too young to have paid any attention to it at the time (this has to be 30+ years back).

Sigh... what could have been.

I know a fellow who live just out of town and is a motorcycle fanatic, owns some rediculous stuff and is in the vintage bike gear bizz. He spun me a tale one time about this exotic 30's OHC machine that he's got, apparently they used to race it in Britain and hear the exhaust note in France :D

A guy I deliver mail to owns a smash repair shop. He's recently given his son the Harley he bought back in '66 - cream paintwork and leather saddle seat, all looks very original and unmolestered. While chatting on a slow mail day (literally) he showed me the bike sitting in his office - a 1920's Indian board-tracker in as new condition. Said he's got a heap of stuff out out town if I ever wat to come over one weekend for a gander.

Oh, and my cousins - one has a '30s De Soto hotrod with a 302 in it, the other has a Willys jeep hotrod with a custom frame and a 351. Wild, wild stuff.
