Do you wear gloves?

  • What do you look for in a pair of gloves? (Cheap, padding, fit, style, protection)

    What kind pictures / links?

I have a few pair, some for cold weather that go up over the forearms of my jacket… I have a light weight pair of HD gloves that I got in a pinch when I needed something when I first started riding and it was cold out. I never wore them much until I got married… (because I have all metal grips and then a wedding ring and didn’t was to scratch either up) now I almost always wear them.

cheap lambskin gloves is what I wear. Anything leather is better than your bare hands scraping the ground should you fall. Expensive gloves have their place I guess, but I don't buy them.

I think they detract from the sensation in a big way. I mean people talk about the risks involved, but heck, you can't live your life playing defense the whole time. Besides, she led a clean lifestyle before I met her, and we're married now for cryin' out loud. Anyway, when I feel like I absolutely HAVE to, I.... oh.

my wife got me some black w/fake carbon fiber for christmas. i wear them when it's cold and on longer rides

I wear high end mechanics gloves. I really dislike long gauntlet style gloves.

Like these:

Regular motorcycle gloves never fit me, and I have a hard time moving my hands in them (yes I know thats because of their design). Those have deer hide palms, high impact rubber on the back, and are super flexible. Plus theyre $40-$80 cheaper than most MC gloves. Look pretty bitchin too if ya ask me.

I have lambskin shooting gloves that I wear when riding and at the range... But 99% of the time I am sporting my wrist length gloves with armour.

i wear riding gloves... HD actually only thing i have other than my boots that are HD clothing... Von there is a article abotu how mechanic glove basicly vanish when you hit pavement, that is why i stopped wearing them... i also have some lethter fingerless gloves i wear on very hot days... i have slid across the ground and ruined my hands before... ill take all the fingerless glove jokes with a smile!

i also do the mechanic gloves. the pair i have now have the same hard "knuckle" covering as some of the motorcycle gloves. i really need them during the summer. with the heat here in the south and my rubber grips, my palms start to get to moist to hold the throttle properly during long rides. i do a basic leather glove from any department store during the winter for warmth.

Ive seen that article Joe. At least I have seen an article about it. It was talking about the standard mesh/nylon gloves. I never wear those outside of the garage. The heavy duty ones are pretty effin' tough. I wear them at work a lot when servicing some heavy equipment we own. They have survuved through some really amazing trauma, like being pulled through (luckily without my hands in them) the tracks of a dozer and came out intact. I wore those same gloves for two years afterwards before they started to fray. And that was mostly due to chemical and water damage.

i still carry a set in my bags... hell gloves of some kind is better than no gloves!Plus you can roll them up real small in your pocket or saddle bag

Alpinestars full leather gauntlets. A bit much for hot days but I'd rather be safe than getting bone and skin grafts.

I wear these, needed for my test and they were on sale. I find them pretty comfortable. wouldn't ride without gloves and can't figure those that do. Road biking and falling at 35km/h does enough damage

I use worn the fuck out hand me down Alpinestar that i could not afford new

I ate shit on a moped in Thailand a couple years ago - no gear, full squid (hey that's how ya roll over there ::) ). My palms/knees/elbows took most of it. No fun at all. Thankfully Thai pharmacies sell the good stuff without a prescription :D

I never ride without gloves these days though. Vented leather, I'm not picky on brand.

I wear ICON Pursuit gloves. Mega comfy, and they've been through a good crash where the knuckle padding saved me from broken bones. $60 well spent.

Carbon fiber armored only! Meshies wear out in a season. They're more comfortable than leather, but I am not confident of their abrasion resistance since my fingers wear through them by the end of summer. I have gone through many pairs of mesh gloves. But, at about $35 a pair, one pair a season ain't bad. My AGV sport racing gloves have been with me for almost my entire riding career. Kevlar stitching has yet to unravel. Carbon fiber knuckles still hard as iron.

Aserbis MX gloves lasted one summer. Cut off fingers and used them for mountain biking. :)

Joe Rockets lasted one season. Note fingers.

Good old AGV racing gloves still with me.

I wear them ALL the time. They seem to be holding up quite well. It's hot here in Oz and I'm sick of getting black hands from sweaty leather gloves.

I wear RS Taichi (sp?) vented gloves. They have the short wrist and carbon (real) on the knuckles. They are really cold in the winter, but perfect during most hot TX days. They look a bit silly on my old CB350 cafe and my HD, but whatever. I rode once a few weeks ago without them and it felt awkward without them.

I think I paid 100$ for them.

Light thin race gloves all the time. Seriously guys have you tried picking your nose without fingers?

OK to be more polite I should ask if you fondled your honey without fingers or tried typing with the ends of your hands all ragged. Riding a bike is risky and we manage that risk in different ways. If you ride a bike, you will fall off. It's only a question of when. Last time I slipped off was at 20mph and my helmet gloves and jacket all took a scratching. Without gear it would have been worse.
