Does this fitting exist?

Been Around the Block
I'm looking for a bulkhead type fitting that seals w/o having to have access to the inside of the tank. I have a powder coated oil tank that i want to put an oil level gauge in (after the fact obviously). Does anyone know if there is such a fitting out there?

Thanx

It would cost what, $30 to have it re-powdercoated? Just braze in the fittings you need, and have it powdercoated again.

Yea, i suppose thats what i'll wind up doing...I just hoped there was a $5-10 fitting that could have prevented that.

you could set some non leaking rivnuts and make a couple plates, sealed with a gasket, with threads fer what?,some guys actually want this kind of "busy look"
still haven't told us what you want, pipe thread,flare,compression,douche-nozzle,JIC,hose-bib, copper ,banjo,hose-barb???????? what kinda of fitting

Well, I don't know what kind of fitting... thats the issue. Whatever type that can be put into an oil tank after drilling a hole that can be sealed/tightened from the outside w/o needing access to the inside. Then whatever needed to add an oil level gauge.
A rivnut looks like what i envisioned... how well do they seal?

I think getting a rivnut to seal if you got it clean and put some Loctite 515/518 on the flange of the rivnut, before setting it

why dont you just tap into the existing fitting at the bottom of the tank?
then run a clear hose vertical somewhere and put a small protected vent at the top,job done

its a custom built tank w/o room on the bottom for that. I also found something called a well nut thats like a rivnut but made of rubber. Just not sure i can find it in ths size i need. Im about at the sand it - weld it - re coat it stage.

Put up a pic of the tank, where you want the fitting, and which gauge/sight glass you want to use.

Right now, I'm siding with ADC, braze and recoat.

Here's the tank...
