Doing the ton

Since my recent refresh of my XS650, I've been going easy to break in the engine. Yesterday I opened her up for the first time and did the ton twice on the way home from work. AWESOME! She pulled up through the ton easily. Bike's running better than ever!

Congrats on having your bike running well after a refresh.
I find hitting the ton on these older bikes quite thrilling!

There's something about hitting the ton on a vintage bike that's just 100x more exhilarating than doing it on a modern bike. My daily rider is a 09 Kawi ER6n, that will cruise at 100+ without feeling like anything over 75, the thrill just isn't the same as when you wrap a vintage air cooled bike (my last 2 being 77 kz650s...and sadly both long gone at this point). I recently picked up a 74 cb360, and my dream now is to get that thing to wrap up over the ton. Now THAT will feel like flying!!!

I'm in agreement guys.....
My tuned 75 T500 will show an indicated 120, and that feels very exciting. Largely because I am waiting for it to break. Whereas, my R1 will do 115 at the red-line in second, and run all day at 150.....but it's just not the same some how !

I did the same thing for the first time yesterday. Was awesome. Face shield on my helmet was rattling from the wind and everything :)

I just recently went on this ride with my wife a couple of weekends ago. (This is just some random video I found on the youtube I'm using to drive home the point.). This was our conversation.

Wife:" I can't believe that was 93 miles an hour! I almost blacked out! what did you think honey?".
Me: "Eeh, I have more fun when I DTT"
Wife:
