Hey guys,

I'm wondering who out there has done a drum to disk brake conversion, and how difficult or easy it is in general? Does it depend on the wheel type/size? Any hard and fast rules/techniques? Always looking to learn more 8)

Thanks in advance

i'm doing this conversion on my 81 kz550 right now. The best way to find out what parts bolt on is go to websites like http://www.bikebandit.com, or an oem parts website and compare the parts numbers from 2 bikes, one with disc and one with out.

on my kz i'm doing dual front and single rear disc, the parts i had to buy were of kz750 or any other model kz with disc. i needed wheels, rotors, 2 front calibers and brackets, front master cylinder(you cant use master cylinder front a single caliber because it won't supply the right amount of pressure), splitter, rear swing arm, rear master cylinder and caliber.

i found all that crap on ebay for around 100 bucks i just have to rebuild the calibers and masters.

It's a CJ 750 sidecar :p Don't own one at the moment but doing my research, there are conversions you can pay for but I'd rather do it myself if I can:

You needed a new swing arm?

Well I didn't need a swing arm if I felt like welding a tab for the caliber brace. But I bought one anyway because it was 12 bucks
