DT250 1973-1975 engine swap question: WILL IT FIT?

DT250 epidemic - Patient Zero
Hey, quick question for anyone in the know.

I have a 1975 DT250 with a growly bearing. Rather than repair it straight away, I want to take the engine from the 1973 donor bike and drop it in place of the 75 engine.

I am concerned however that the exhaust pipe might not be in the right spot, or might not be quite compatible, and need to know if what I'm doing, basically just strapping the whole '73 engine into an otherwise complete '75 bike, will work.

THank you in advance.

Hey Catbird, I know this was an older post and I hope you have since figured tings out BUT if you havnt or are stuck, I know the 73 DTs ran off of the 6volt electrical system and anything after 73 was 12volt so a complete re wire would be in order because the stator on my bike wont put out enough juice. food for thought, let me know!

A little late myself, I know, but all of the 250 engines I have are a 6v battery and a generator system, rather than a 12v solid-state system.
From what I'm told, the 400's and 360's are a bit different though.
I've actually just had the thing professionally rebuilt, bored, honed, chamfered and matched to a brand new Wiseco piston. This would not have been possible except for the fact that my father agreed to pick up the tab.
