DTT 12 month Calendar

Staffy

It's not yours 'til you cut it up.
I was just thinking that we should have a calendar made up for next year. I don't have anything to put up in the shed right now.

Perhaps a BOTM calendar with the bike that wins claiming that month for next year's calendar?

There could also be a couple of others not including BOTM to satisfy everybody... say a bob and chop calendar, cafe one, etc...

I don't have the nellies to get this going but I thought I'd "run it up the flagpole and see who salutes".

Thoughts?

I had a look and couldn't see anything. I had thought I may have missed something...

Not to sound like the business major or anything, but If the site sponsors put ads in it, and the blog charged for it, this calendar would bring in some dough.
Also, if any of the retailers that sponsor this site gave promo codes that were valid during the month/day they ran the ad in the calender, it would give bloggers/builders an incentive to buy both the calender itself and products from the sponsors.

For example, I would love a calender that, instead of telling me when Kwanza begins, told me that DCC was having a sale and gave me an exclusive promo code. Just my 2 cents (issued at par value).

Sounds like a great idea.

Deals or not though i'd just love to have some shit hot bikes in the garage instead of a blank wall.

Adverts or not, bring it on.

Another great idea either way! 8)

I'd buy at least one! ;D

Word. I'm not saying it has to have Ads. I just figure DTT could always use the extra money, especially if it means I get coupons. haha. But yes, my office and garage could use a Cafe of the month Calender.

It is something that has been given some thought, but it gets really, really expensive to lay out the money to have these things printed with the hopes of breaking even let alone making any money.

I know the Dime City guys are sitting on a pile of 10" DTT patches at the moment that people have been clamoring for, but haven't actually bought yet. It used to take me a year to sell 200 patches.

Might explore the idea of making it available for one-off ordering. It will increase the cost to buy, but will eliminate the up-front costs. Not looking to make any money and I would like to have one myself!

Will put the word out and get each of the BOTM winners to select their fave pic and see what I can put together.

I would be up for designing it if it got there. Just an idea, you could have people prepay for them in December of this coming year and hold all payments in paypal and if enough people order then print if not refund the payments. Either way, if I got the photos I could design something and just donate my time.

Great idea. Ask for orders and deposits (50% minimum maybe?) in mid november and that'd give enough time to see if the numbers are viable and place an appropriate order.

Epic. I want a couple. If you did sell add space, the production cost would be greatly reduced. Hell I'd even sell days to non-business guys. I'd front some change to have Crescent Day, or import beer day, or maybe international header wrap day listed somewhere during the year just for giggles.

Hahaha, awesome idea. I'd put down some change to have a spot for the "Ministry of Vegetation" on a day.

That's a great idea. Selling days to average schmucks. Hell, I'd buy a week.

According to printpelican.com an order of 100 (pcs) @ 8.5" x 11" full color calendars retails at $625.00. $6.25 each. That is if we provide proofed artwork, ready to go. Nothing added for profit, the pain and cost of S&H, and 625.00 has to be fronted. That is also a good bit of product to sit on. There are plenty of us that would do the artwork for free, myself included. That is still a lot for someone to risk.

The other option is to design the layout and host for download. Then you can carry it into the local printer. One copy won't get a price break, so your looking at around $20 per copy (rough estimate).

Second option's probably more feasible. I just can't see 100 people willing to pay up front here; because it always (well not always..) happens that the guy who forks out for the package gets a little screwed.

A DTT calaendar was discussed in the middle of last year and I arranged with the artist John Hancox [ at our cost ] to commission a series of cafe racer prints that would form the basis for a Cafe Racer DTT calendar. It's been posted up elsewhere since last August [?].

The artwork has been especially commissioned to reflect the DTT logo with permission from Tim.

The deal was that the calendars should be produced and sold on a discount basis to Forum members and that a royalty from each sale should go direct to the club coffers. That way there was no financial burden on the DTT forum to lay out money up front for artwork or the production of a calendar.

Or maybe I was just dreaming.

So... where can a guy, an average Joe like myself, purchase one of these fine DTT Cafe Moto agenda keepers? Mayhaps a link be provided for the poor schmuck who missed out on the discussion of said illustrated monthly almanac?

Magcloud can do one off printing I believe. That's how BikeExif did their calendar. Price is ~$13 to the calendar purchaser, not sure what the profit would be.

Hmmmm, I was just passing the "75% off" mall calendar cart and thinking of looking for a cycle calendar. I would rather have this one at 125%.
