DTT Barber Build 2012

Kiley, thanks man. When you have a spare minute could you snap some pics of the peg brackets? I have a CL450 and the CB450 foot brackets are actually a bit different due to exhaust clearance issues. For instance, the kickstand is integrated into the left foot peg bracket on the CL but I'm not sure if it is on the CB. Also the right brake pedal swoops down on the CB to clear the exhaust but doesn't on the CL. Additionally, I am missing the shaft that the brake pedal pivots on. Luckily I did not cut off the frame tabs that hold it. I'm also missing the center stand. Wasn't on the bike when I bought it. Pictures would help me make sure everything will fit up.

I was thinking of using the stock peg brackets and whatnot and then fitting something different at the peg pivots.

I will be making an inventory of all my extra bits I currently have and will be offering them for free here. To pay it forward as best I can.

Oh, an since I will be driving to Barber, I will bring lots of beers.

:)

So are we gonna cut the top frame rails off and replace them? I think thats the only way to do it for a solo seat.

Travis, I think I decided to just go with a seat that sits on the frame rails like the one in the pic I posted instead of trying to do a bunch of frame mods to get a solo seat to work.

Ya know... Theres a company (cant remember the name) that makes a "bratstyle" kit for the XS650. Pretty cheap, but nice quality. I bet that if ya picked one up it could be easily modified to work with your frame. Just a thought.

I want to help. I have 450 stock parts I removed from my Cl450, and I have two Cb350 basket cases that can be cannibalized. I'd be happy to donate some $ for misc parts too. I really enjoyed the DTT crew last year. Oh, I'll photograph the build and live post for those who cannot make it there.

Thanks man! Still trying to figure out what is needed.

A little update. I pulled the bike out of the garage to try and start it. The wiring is a bit messed up since the headlight got smashed. Messed around a bit and got the bike to turn on and the starter to turn over but it wouldn't fire. I pulled the plugs and no spark. Looks like they aren't getting power. Going to have my dad come over and help me troubleshoot. It is really hard to do with one arm.

Signed up.
Most of the extra bits I have are pretty rusty or cruddy but you are welcome to anything. I'll keep an ear out for items you need and post up what I have. I do have a Hodaka tank that's in fabulous shape that you're welcome to.
An idea would be to get cresent or one of those very gifted guys to do a photoshop mock up. If nothing else might help with color choices.
One very cool thing to see done on site would be someone lacing a freshly powdered set of wheels. I've never done wheels so it's not going to be me. Would be cool to see it done at barbers though.

Those Hodaka tanks look cool. Any idea how large it is compared to this 350f tank?

Kiley offered to do a sketch but some photochops may be useful as well. I'm no good at it. I will try and get some pics like the first one below so the bike can be isolated after I take some more bits off.

Both gauges are trashed. I think I will just run a speedo and lower it so it doesnt stick up past the upper tree and headlight so much.

What would be required to powder the rear rim? It currently has epoxy paint sprayed on chrome. I did a bad job of roughing up the chrome and painting it. There was also a small rust hole that I filled with JB weld before I painted it.

Von, Those pegs are pretty cool. I will measure the peg bracket so we can see if they will fit. I also have a set of springs from a set of broken pegs that may work with those.

I've got spare gauges on the '75 CB750K parts bike. You're welcome to them if you want them both, or just the speedo.
Lemme know and I can get you some pics ;)

I literally have a 5 gallon bucket of Honda speedos and tachs if you need one.

And I can lace and true wheels if needed.

Haha, I will need a decent working speedo. The smaller the better. I am not going to run a tach. I can refinish it so not too worried about the outside. I also have bulbs for them.

Ok, I'm done offering parts and services if everyone else is going to offer better parts and services!!!
