Yeah I know, a E46 Convertible with a drag cage. It also has over 800 hps also. I did this for the same Company that I did the Orange car for. It is one of their customers. Car went to the MFest this past spring and made its debut there. It is in paint prep now and will be seen in a couple magazines very soon.

Customer wanted a full cage to work with all of the interior and top. Material is 1.625"x.083" 4130 and was tig welded. Soft folding top was removed since the car lives in Texas and will be driven sunny days only. The factory hardtop still fits and was a pain to fit the cage to and make it a clean install and still meet NHRA rules.

All the interior was left unharmed and still has full carpet and sound system.

In a convertible there is extra bulkhead material added for strength and it is extremely ugly. Plus it would have been a lot harder to make something that would also look good and fill the void so he decided to just the seat in. The seat is just foam and is very light.

The head rests look kind of funny sticking out like that. Luckily, the rest of the car is hard to laugh at.

I agree ndromb, but the rear head rest are part of the roll over protection from the factory. It is easy to pull out and cover but the car left from here back to the primary shop for two days and customer picked up drove to right to MFest in Vegas. Wasn't much time to get all the interior details complete. Customer is now getting the whole thing detailed and painted in Texas.

I didn't even consider them being part of the factory roll-over protection. I never deal with verts.

well considering the LS1 is probably lighter than the I6 thats in there and its much easier to make power, cheaper to make power, and its much cooler popping the hood and having something in there that didnt get there out of the factory. just my $.02 and if it was my car with that much money into it anyways it wouldve been the first thing i did.

why the hell would he leave the rear seats in there... seems pointless; weight that cant be used at all.
