Pull the switch block apart and look at the wires. That way you're certain
fevah said:I fitted switches from a late 90s CBR600RR to my 73 CB500. Pretty simple, i went off the wiring diagram i had for the 500 and pulled apart the switches for the CBR like was already said. From memory i pulled apart the stock ones as well to double check. I'm no wiring expert and it didnt take to long. Big improvement over the sloppy 30 year old switches if your going for a semi modern look as well

If it's an orange, it's a switched live feed (with ignition on), goes into Honda black wire.
different colour tracers with orange wil tell you what exactly things do/get connected to on live side
You may find the stop switch has to be OFF to run, can't remember how it's wired internally, will try and check tomorrow.
It's always easier to use switches from same manufacturer as wiring colours won't change (even if internal connections do)

Suzuki use 'live' switches for starter circuit because of safety cutouts.
Power goes from battery through main fuse to ignition switch, back to fuse box, up to kill switch, bridged to starter button, back into harness, out to clutch switch then to starter solenoid, out of starter solenoid to starter relay, from there to either neutral switch or sidestand switch.
lots of fun to work with
Your bypassing most of that can't have 2 livefeeds going to solenoid (won't do anything) so, you ground one side of solenoid and live feed the other side

hey pj
on hte left controls...what do i do with the clutch switches?? do i leave them alone or do they get wired to something?
PoloRL57 said:here is the wiring for future use if people want to use these switches.... by the way mine were off a 06-07 gsxr
the credit goes to 66sprint from hondatwins.net...he is the MAN!!
this is for my 71 cb450 your wires may be different but close enough
first thing first, you need to ground the black wire coming from the starter solenoid(read post before for reasoning why you need to ground that wire)
right controls
gsxr wire color ------ honda wire color
"Kill Switch"
O/W ......................................MUST connect to (Honda) Black (power with key on)
O/B........................................Black/white stripe (power to coils)
"Lighting interrupter/Start"
O/R........................................To Black (incoming power, can be the same black as the kill switch)
W/Y ....................To GSXR left switches, W/Y wire (carries power over to hi/low switch, other side of switches)
Y/G ........................................To Yellow/Red stripe (solenoid wire...If you've grounded the other small solenoid wire {black})
"front brake switch"
B/R ............................... Yellow/green (brakelight)
B/BL............................... Black (power)
left controls
gsxr colors ------ honda colors
Lights:
O to W/Y from right side switches - from right switch to left switch to power these up
Y to Headlight Blue (high beam)
W to Headlight White (low beam)
Horn:
B/Bl to Horn Lt.Green
B/W to ground
Horn black to power buss (harness Black)
Turn signals......
LBl to Honda grey
Lg to Honda Lt. Blue
B to Honda Orange
