Ebay Cafe Seats from Vietnam

definatly post pics and describe in full the process the upholsters did to mount it to your stock pan. My seat for the CL is on sale at 98.99 wth shipping @ 39.99 im in at $140.00. You save big bucks using your pan. I think this would be easier than a fiberglass pan.

I am also thinking using your pan would allow you to cut/weld/fab whatever mounting changes you might want to befor the foam and cover are installed. I am a bit concerned that using the stock pan wont allow the seat to sit low enough on the frame but hopefully we'll see soon enough.

I thought about the seat not being low enough also, but at this point it's a major improvement over the stocker. In the future I want to try making my own glass seat, but at this point I'm just getting the bike ready to ride (and enjoy). That will be a project for the end of Summer.

Upholstery place quoted me $50 CAD and a 1 day turnaround on the seat, so I should have it back Monday for more photos.

Also, since this photo I've removed the "console TV" brake light and replaced it with a small chrome piece. I've also ordered lower mirrors and plan to do some painting soon - still not sure what color scheme. Oh, and remove the chrome bar that's holding the signals and relocate them (debating ordering new signals also).

Took the pan to the upholstery place along with the new foam and cover and they told me that since the hooks were all rusted off that they'd need to rivet the seat on from the outside in (meaning exposed rivet heads). They said that to rivet inside out (with the outside of the rivet then being hidden under the leather) would mean that the rivets would eventually wear through the leather. This can be avoided by putting some foam in between, however that meant he was going to take 3 hours to do it at a shop rate of $70/hour which isn't worth it to me.

A pic below to explain what I mean.

Found this thread today http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=6830.0 suggesting that you can simply glue the foam to the pan, leather to the foam, and then wrap the leather underneath with spray adhesive - not sure if that will be strong enough.

Here are some photos of the seat I designed, ordered and received from the Vietnamese eBay seat seller. Bottom line is the service was incredible. The owner worked with me via email and Skype to sort out what I wanted. The deliver was quick. Overall, I'm quite pleased with the product. I had two seats made. One is shown in the photos. The other is a black cafe racer style that I also designed. It has a hump in the back. I'm thinking about selling the black one as it's never been used or installed. Both seats were built off the original seat pans of the CB400F.

I highly recommend the seats from the seller if you're looking for a simple alternative or if you want someone to fabricate seats for you.

Is your front tire on backwards?

Nice seat btw, what was the total cost to get it done, and how many hours of communicating did it take?

I got my seat in on Monday and I must say I was impressed. Well made and for the price its a deal I think. Let me know what you think of it thanks.

I'm looking for my 400 as well, can you get a good side profile shot of the whole bike? Looks infinitely better than stock, but looks a bit tall for me maybe

I will take a couple of the side profile tonight and post them, Im only 5'5 and its not to high for me. I found its a little lower then stock. Still have to figure out what to do with the rear fender. any ideas?

Was actually looking at these seats last night on ebay, and wondering how much I would need to to modify it to fit my yamaha

Keen to hear how good the finish is on these seats.
Think I have decided to try and redo it myself, the foam will be easy to do, and have some ideas on how to fit the cover.

I like the idea of just glueing it on... I used glue previously to hold the foam tot he seat pan on another project- used laminix contact adhesive with good success.

It helps a bit, I'm really hoping ot see a side shot of the entire bike for better perspective of the size of the seat in comparison to the tank, etc

No big deal either way, and thanks for trying :)

^ those nitrohead style seats are fairly exy...even the knock off ones.
but you do get what you pay for because they look awesome :)

i cant decide what direction I want to go with the bike yet. so I want just going to get that seat because my stock seat is tore up.

I wasn't very happy with the seat I got from Vietnam/ebay. For the cost, you should just get one from the USA!
