Ebay Mikuni's

I am going to be buying a pair of VM34's shortly and my first instinct is to go to Sudco. Does anyone know if you can specify what jets, slides and needles you need or do they just sell them with generic parts?

Re: Sudco Mikuni's

Typically Sudco I think will sell you kits specific to the bike. You pay a premium for this usually vs buying the base carbs and the specific jetting etc. you need.

What bike? Sonrier on the site here has done group buys on Mikuni's before.

Ok thanks. The carbs are for my T500 Suzuki but the motor is not stock.

Re: Sudco Mikuni's

You sure about the VM34's? I have a CB450 modified with 500cc pistons and I get VM32's...

lower the vacuum, the more hard they'll be to get them in tune.

Re: Sudco Mikuni's

I'm running VM36s on my T500 and they work great.

joe, don't forget that a T500 is a two stroke. It's pulling a lot more fuel and air through that engine than a four stroke would be.

Re: Sudco Mikuni's

Carb sizing is odd. Recommended size for my BMW R75 (750) is VM32's which I have on the bike now. VM34's on my XS650, which can also be served by a single VM36. Going to be running a single VM36 on my SR500.

All about the jetting, slide and needle at the end of the day.

Re: Sudco Mikuni's

I would get a few sizes up and down on the jets because you wil most likely have to do some adjustments.

Sudco has whatever sizes jets you want really.

Re: Sudco Mikuni's

I dunno if you've ever called sudco up but holy christ are they expensive. I say source some carbs and kit em out yourself. the info is all out there.

I realise I will need to buy additional jets but I really don't want to be buying new slides and needles if I don't have to.

I never have called them to me honest just heard a lot of others buying from them. Where is a better (cheaper) place to buy Mikunis?

Re: Sudco Mikuni's

I don't know about cheaper / better, but Carb Parts Warehouse in Cleveland is where I got the guts for my VM34's.

Re: Sudco Mikuni's

I got mine off a group buy with sonreir, maby there will be another one in the works soon. A set up from sudco for my XS650 was like $800.

Anything wrong with buying these from ebay? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mikuni-VM34-Round-Slide-Carburetor-VM-34mm-Carb-Left-Hand-Adjust-New-/310438395963?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D3340071602613882012%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D2%26sd%3D160909862556%26

Get some 250cc RM, YZ, or KX flat/'oval' slides off an old MX bike, (don't use Honda CR carbs, they are Kei-hin and more expensive to set up, unless you get PWK?)
You can probably pick them up for less than a third the cost of new roundslides plus pretty close on jetting off 250 MX ;D
I've also bought snowmobile and ATV carbs, I have one 34mm Mikuni roundslide spare off a 3 cyl motor

These are on ebay

Just enter the carb size instead of MX or motocross carb
