Build it and they will love
Well I will make my introduction short and sweet. My name is Mark, and I am from Massachusetts. I got this bike a year ago with Bobber/Chopper hopes and took a year to realize that this bike; Shafty, and 1100cc was not made to be a lane splitter. The tsudo cafe style has been my latest venture as of late and i will use this thread to show my transformations to this point. Im not a bike builder, nore a master fabricator but I do what I can, stay tuned.
First a picture of my dad on his '68 Bonnie. Hes a big part of my life with bikes

I saw the light and got the stock tank and headlight on. I have Blinkers, tires, UNI filters, and some other stuff in the mail..

Clip-Ons.. everyone said I would hate them and the reality is they should have been my first purchase

I was able to slide the tubes up 1 1/2 fo it has changed the whole feel of the bike. I hadbe using Iron Head sportster rear shocks but the bike was too low after lowering the front so the rears were swapped out with the OEM components.

I will update this tomorrw. Its 4:30 in the morning oops..

Re: "El luchador" aka 'The Fighter' '79 XS1100S Build *pictures*

here are some pictures from today. My Girlfriend is visiting until tomorrow so Im limited in the man cave until then. But here is where shes at.

THe seat is the latest project made from an old Maple Cabinet shelf, the foam from an elderlymands basement, foam from a K Model harley seat, a yoga mat and some patience. Still need to make a side cover for that side, Lost is on the freeway.. UGH

Notice the fuel stains?

Probably chopping the front fender or making my own round stock fender brace, 7" light installes on Emgo ears

Made this rear hope section from some 1" mild steel and a pair of old Matt Hoffman BMX bars. I dont have many tools so it was done by eye, with a hacksaw, a bastard file and a Lincoln Mig welder. looks pretty good considering.

The soon to be tail light came by way of a broken factory Iron head turnsignal, my dad stripped the mount so i took it off and stuffed my brakelight stuff in there just need some red spray tint

good looking bike,

Don't know why your apologizing for you shop. Mine is shared with my dad and brother and right now we have two houses worth of stuff shoved in there that I constantly have to move in order to use my tools.

Re: "El luchador" aka 'The Fighter' '79 XS1100S Build *pictures*

I have a better one coming. If/when it shows up you are welcome to my old one. It has a big dent on the side under emblem and 3 or 4 smaller ones on the front. It is fixable but I found a really clean one on flea-bay. It is supposed to be here soon. I'll let you know if mine is up for grabs.

Hey man,
Props on building a "big" cafe bike. You will be in the class that can actually do the Ton (with ease) too! I like what you are doing with the rear of it a lot. I am still deciding on the look for mine, since it has to remain two up. The guys here have been a big help in that regard. A standard tank will help you a lot. Not much can be done about the leading front axle, though... ::) But don't let anyone lie and tell you its not a lane splitter. I have proven that more than once! ;D Nice job; I will be watching for more!

One pic of mine:

Ask and you shall receive. Seat is done, taillight done, blinkers on, swing arm painted, wheels painted flat black, painted rotors, and got a new white wall, still not even close to done but it looks pretty good if you ask me

Re: "El luchador" aka 'The Fighter' '79 XS1100S Build *pictures*

That seat looks great. Did you do the upholstery or did you have a shop do it? Very nice. I got my new tank yesterday, so mine old one is up for grabs if you are still interested. It will take me a few days to get the new one prepped, painted and swapped over. So hopefully by Monday I will be ready to part with the old one. I can PM you some pics of the damage on the tank if you want. Let me know.
