Electrical cluster and oil tank

Hello I hope this is the appropriate place to post this question.

I just bought a 77 cb750 and have begun to remove as much un-necessary thing on it as i can and was wondering how on many images of cafe racers i've seen where the oil tank and electrical cluster went? can you move them remove them any advice would be helpful thanks.

You can move them anywhere you want, but you need to maintain the same (or close) amount of oil in the system for cooling.

Most bikes don't have an oil tank. They have what is known as a wet sump system. CB750 is a dry sump ie it has an external oil tank and it has to stay. It can be replaced with something nicer looking, but why bother - it's a lot of work and no much gain. Back in the day, all Brit bikes had oil tanks, so we never had that naked middle look, even on race bikes.

Instruments can be replaced with small electronic units. Back in the day, regular bikes often had the speedo in the headlamp and no tacho. Sporty bikes and cafe racers had both clock mounted high and tight - partly so they could be read while going fast in a race position, but mainly because they looked good up there.
