Electrical trouble on vacation, please give suggestions!

Went on a biking trip with my buddy were down in Florida. His Honda was riding perfectly and fine before this, his battery is getting drained extremely fast. Narrowed it down to the wires from the points shorting or draining the battery. Unplugged all other electrical. Just confused as to why it would be happening now. He also has two extra batteries one was brand new, both are not being able to have any load, they all drain very fast. Turning it on drops it to 10 v and it just quickly keeps going down. Any suggestions would be awesome only down here for a few more days. Thanks!

Any short circuit in the points wires area is going to cause a problem with the spark. I'd double check to make sure the problem is actually there and not further up the chain, like in the kill switch.

Sounds like somewhere you have grounded a hot wire for sure. what bike is it? if it has a kick start you could minimize the wire harness quickly but once that green (if green) has melted into a hot lead its like having a cigarette lighter pushed in until it finally burns in two. Look by the starter relay right off the battery and see if any of the bladed connectors get warm, any obvious recent mods like hand controls causing a pinched wire, tank off recently and maybe got hold of something and rubbed all the way down. get it in the dark and wiggle stuff and look for sparks man... if it's arcing to the frame you will see it!

I literally am taking a wire and its sparking with the wire that goes to his coils, unhooking the point wires causes it too go away with every other electrical component unhooked, any ideas?
