Electronic ignition

I just came by this site that has a ton of electronic ignitions for like $200. Has anyone ever dealt with them before?

I was interested in an electronic ignition once, but always held back due to cost. But my CB350 runs very well with points, they are not as archaic as people believe. Once set up correctly, the bike idles fine and the advance only went out by a couple of degrees after a season of hard riding. Save your money for new coils where it will make a bigger difference.

i would spend the money and just get it from somebody who has it tried and true....

like this site ;) ;)

also personally this one looks a bit more durable ;D

According to the web site NewTronics is Piranha, they are using the same design and tooling. The company just has been sold so may times probably due to lack of interest.

The reason this has a low interest is it's old technology, i fitted one of these to a Triumph i had in 1989 and it was cutting edge, light emitting diodes were all the rage then ;) the system is still just a switch like the points and the better modern "hall sensor" style electronic/mechanical systems. This system still uses your mechanical advance/retard (bob weights/vacuum) The BoreTech system is a Electronic/Digital system and uses software and a reference TDC switch to calculate your advance and retard and is tunable using software. Two completely different and still both very reliable systems not to be confused :D :D
