EMGO shorty mufflers - performance compromise?

strang

yep
I've got an Emgo shorty muffler sitting on the shelf at the moment and before I go to the hassle of fitting it, wondered if it is actually possible to get good performance with my LS650 Suzuki Savage project and this type of muffler?
Is this size of muffler a compromise on performance? or is the size just going to be a compromise on decibel reduction ie. really loud? Basically are they easy to tune for decent performance?

I've been running the black version of this one on my 82 Suzuki GS650G for the last couple of years. I have 4 into 1 exhaust and I regularly get complements on the sound of my pipes. My bike is running richer than it was, but I haven't seen a decrease in fuel efficiency or power.

For me, it was as simple as bolting it on once I had the appropriate adapter to fit the 4 into 1 exhaust stretched at a local muffler shop.

I hope that helps.

yep that's helpful thanks.
they just look so small I was concerned they were gonna have similar mid range issues that straight drag pipes do. i.e. drag pipe sag.
